El Inka Grill

My pre-birthday celebration and @vbterp said I was to choose what I wanted for the day.

I was in the mood for some good Peruvian cuisine.

I had overheard that this was a good place.

Toasted Corn with jalapeño sauce

Calamares Fritos
Crispy calamari rings with creole sauce and fried yuca.

Tallerines Verdes Con Churrasco:
Charbroiled Black Angus skirt steak served with Peruvian pesto spaghetti

Picante de Mariscos
A seafood mix sautéed with spicy rich creamy sauce served with rice.

Suspiro A La Limeña. Milk, sugar, almond flour, meringue, and cinnamon.

Picarones. Squash, sweet potato, and chancaca (solidified molasses)

Overall, The service was good. The restaurant is pretty pricey so I was expecting excellent customer service. It lacks in that department, but the food is very good. The ambience is very nice. When you walk in you are expecting fine dining, but the customer service kind of lets you down.

Two Thumbs Up for the food. Customer service need to be bumped up a notch.

Fogo Do Brazil (Cozumel)

Here we were in Cozumel doing what we always do. I was on a mission to go to another place when this lovely young woman asked us to check Fogo Do Brazil out.

We had never seen this place before. Not sure how long it’s been here now. We knew it was going to be good.

The place is classy. As soon as we got off the escalator we knew we were in for a great treat.

When we entered the place was glowing. It was pristine. Colorful and very well decorated.

Gorgeous table settings.

True Brazil fashion.

I am telling you the place is gorgeous.

This was my view of the beautiful Disney Magic from the restaurant. I truly love my job.

@xobejm ordered the lemonade and it was huge.

Fresh Guacamole. Very nice.

Pico De Gallo was freshly made as well and hit the spot on this hot day.

I had requested some true non American hot sauce.

Feast Shot of our starters.

Steak tacos. This is what @tarajroth ordered.

@Xobejm ordered the Chicken and Cheese Quesadillas. This is her go to dish every time. These did not disappoint.

Arrachera Steak with vegetables and rice. @tarajroth and I discussed when we go to Cozumel the steak is different than what you would find in other regions. Still good, don’t get me wrong. Just different.

This one was a true Foodbidden Family lunch that got our thumbs up.

Service was great and the staff is very attentive. When coming off the ship take a left and go down the main road. You can’t miss it on your right.

This one is all thanks to Caitlyn. @tarajroth and I owe you big for this one.

@Tarajroth and I had never walked this far off the main road for lunch in Cozumel. We always ask around on the ship where the best places are at.

The entrance was awesome. We were so glad that we had made it. It was windy and we were lost for a bit, so it was nice when we arrived to a great looking place.

Several crew members here which makes me always believe its a great place. Wifi is available. This is always a must when we find a place to eat.

Chris was our server today. Great guy. Very friendly. We started off with our usual Mexican cokes.

Chips with queso sauce.

Arrachera Steak with beans and guacamole

Sopa Azteca.

Avocado Pie. Okay, so before you make that face, let me explain. Chris said we had to try it. @Tarajroth and I love Avocado, but we didn’t know about a pie. We knew it would be a bit before we came back to Cozumel, so we had to try it. Absolutely amazing. So good! It was frozen so we had to dig in. Yummy!!

Overall, way better than I ever expected. This place is nice and it’s very clean. Servers are all great. It’s a team effort. Prices are great. Ask for Chris. He has great recommendations.

El Gordo Restaurant

Thanks to good friends who recommend great restaurants in Chicago. I was in Chicago visiting my parents for a few days.

Chicago has so many local restaurants that have been here for several years and have the same customers coming here for years. My favorite type of food to eat while I am here is Mexican. Orlando seems to be lacking compared to Chicago.

@Tarajroth ordered the Strawberry Margarita.

@Xobejm ordered their Lemonade.

Fresh guacamole. It was just okay. Nothing to write home about. Didn’t taste as fresh as it claimed it would.

Queso fundido with chorizo. Now, this one was perfect. I ordered it with corn tortillas. All that cheese would make @wholycheesus very happy.

Had to take a pic of this. It is the way to the bar that they have next door.

Burrito Suizo de Carne Asada. Later I will show the inside. Huge portions! This was very tasty. I ate half and took the other half home. I always finish all my food, but tonight I couldn’t.

Guisado De Puerco. This was Papi’s dish. Papi wanted it as spicy as possible. The server suggested the green sauce. Papi loved how spicy it was and loved the flavor.

Enchiladas Suizas de Pollo. This was Ita’s dish. Ita liked them. She didn’t love them. The red sauce was a bit overwhelming for her.

Chimichanga De Pollo with rice and beans. This was my friends dish.

@xobejm ordered the steak tacos. They came with lettuce which is a first for me. She seemed to have liked them. She prefers just onions and cilantro.

Torta de Carne Asada. This was my others friends dish. It looked fantastic.

Burrito Suizo (inside shot) I like to order it with steak, onions, and cilantro. The meat was well prepared and it truly was the perfect bite.

Cheesecake. Very good.

Tres Leches. Their best dessert in the restaurant in my opinion.

Flan. I did not like it. As I mention in my other blogs, I am very picky about my flan. This is one did not pass the test.

All three desserts. See if you can find the hidden Mickey (Disney reference)

Great place to come and hang out. Very loud when we went. Soccer games are playing in the background and kids are screaming. Our server was very helpful and patient with us. The woman who I spoke to at the register had a rude sort of attitude when I asked about parking in the back. Not a great way to impress a customer when entering. Food was great! The guacamole needs some help.

Brazil Express Churrasco Grill

Thank you so much to Vinny, Laura, Anny, Hector for such a wonderful meal. This invitation was courtesy of the Morales family. Wow! What a great place this was. Located inside Nantucket Square in Schaumburg.

Established here in 2012 Brazil Express has been pleasing locals with their Churrasco grill ever since their doors opened. We arrived around 6:15pm and we were greeted promptly. As we were being seated I was amazed by the salad bar.

So much healthiness to choose from. I haven’t seen these many veggies in my life. Nor has my body had any since blogging.

I figured I would try a bit of everything. All of the items were fresh. The lettuce, tomato, cheese, etc. all were very good starters to what we were about to face.

When in Rome……A Guarana soda is always a must. Our server best described it as a better tasting version of Ginger Ale. I went more with a Cream Soda taste. Maybe a mixture of both.

Cheese bread. I wish I could give you the name. It was put on the table and it smelled fantastic. I took a bite and it was truly the perfect bite. Warm bread with cheese inside. I needed ten more of these.

Mashed Potatoes and Sweet Bananas. Now these are not your usual plantains. These have a different flavor and seemed to be put on a grill.

Black Beans and White Rice. This is something you can serve yourself from the salad bar area. There are soups to choose from as well. Now…….LET’S TALK FOOD!!

I think the pictures are self explanatory. Little did I know what I was getting myself into. This was a smorgasbord of meats. Meats and meats galore. And oh yeah, did I mention meats? Chicken, Filet Mignon, Chicken wrapped in Bacon, Parmesan encrusted Pork (new item), Garlic Steak, and Sausage. Hector and Laura found this place and come here as often as they can. If I lived around here I would too.

Now the concept is simple. Green card placed on the stand at the table means bring meat. Green card down means stop serving meat.

Brazil Express does not disappoint, not only with the amount of food, but the amazing prices they offer. Every single thing was delicious. You can ask for the meat to be cooked to your liking and they will oblige. Customer service is top notch here.

The flavor of the meats are out of this world. Every time they would cut me a slice of meat I would get nervous and use my little “Operation” type pinchers and grab the meat that was sliced for me.

Brazilian Flan. I am seeing a hidden Mickey. Anyone else? I am sure it’s just me. This dessert is outstanding. I have mentioned my dislike of flan in previous post. This one, other than Maria’s mom, is definitely my favorite.

Anny ordered the Key Lime Pie and it was very good. They had a variety of desserts to choose from, but we could only “stomach” two of them.

It was an amazing experience. The only thing missing is the Feast Shot. I was so engaged in good conversation and good food that it slipped my mind. Oh well, means I better get back here soon.

I do have to say that the final touch made the evening awesome. While walking towards the door ready to exit, the team member from Brazil Express opened the door for us and let us out and wished us a good night. You don’t get that type of service very often in most places.

Laura, Vinny, Anny, Hector, Thanks for an amazing meal and amazing company. This was a great recommendation. Abrazos!!

Brasa Roja

Pardon the odd picture. If I would have taken a step back I would have gotten run over by several cars. Always excitement in Chicago.

My mom has been here about ten times. She is no stranger to this place. She comes in the morning and has her usual empanadas. Tonight our server was Johnjairo.

I loved seeing the fire going and seeing the rotisserie dripping. It made me very hungry. Johnjairo was nice enough to have me take a picture of the flame.

Mom started off with a Batido de Lulo. (Soursop shake). I gave it a try to see how it tasted. It was nice. Sweet. Pretty good. And I had to Google what Soursop was. I am sure you will too.

Mine, the usual. No matter where I go. Una Colombiana for me. I enjoy this drink a little too much. Now let’s talk COMIDA!!!

Empanadas De Carne. Oh yeah!! You can’t ever go wrong with these in a Colombian restaurant. Especially this one. This was Mommy Bidden’s order.

This is my moms favorite one. Aborrajado. (Plantain with cheese and guava paste). Holy mother of delectable items!! This is amazing. Didn’t realize this even existed on a Colombian menu.

Char broiled Chicken and New York Strip combo served with potato, cassava, and plantain.
This dish warrants two pictures. The steak was perfect and the chicken was just right. Lots of food. Perfect for me.

This place is a must try for any local or tourist. Great food and amazing prices.

Johnjairo, Gracias por su atención. La comida esta muy rica. Espero regresar pronto.

Poncitlan Jalisco

I was craving a good Mexican breakfast for about three years now. Which was the last time I was here.

This was a great way to start my morning. I flew in to Chicago today and my parents took me straight to their favorite Mexican breakfast place. Poncitlan has been here for years. They have become good friends with my parents. Jose the owner of Poncitlan jokes with my dad about which soccer team they root for.

The place is pretty big. I mean it is no Kissimmee. This has much room and the staff here are working hard in the kitchen making every order as quickly as possible.

Guacamole. I love going to good Mexican restaurants and ordering this. All of the ingredients nice and fresh. Just what the doctor ordered.

Salsa and Guacamole.
Elvia was our server today. When we walked in the table was set and the menus laid on the table. Elvia knew my parents would be coming today since they come every Sunday. The place gets full quickly with all the locals. By the time we left people were waiting outside to be seated. Now lets talk FOOD!!

Desayuno Poncitlan. The Poncitlan breakfast. 3 over easy eggs, topped with ranchero sauce and ribeye.

Desayuno Poncitlan.
This is the same dish with no ranchero sauce. My mom and dad like it plain. I enjoyed it with the sauce on top.

Chilaquiles Rojos.
I was very hungry after a short flight from Orlando. I always have to order one more thing just to have something extra. I ordered this as a side. It tends to come with eggs and steak as well.

Elvia y Jose, Gracias for todo. Mis papas siempre hablan de ustedes y que siempre los tratan muy bien. Se los agradezco mucho.

Teq-A-Bite

After a long exhausting day of eating all day in Epcot at the Flower and Garden show I decided I needed to make one more stop before the evening ended. I went home and brushed my hair (haha) and went back out to find me a good Venezuelan Burger.

This is my third time here. It’s located on OBT right next to the Tire Kingdom on Peppermill. You cannot miss the truck. It’s parked in front of a lawn store and the sign shines brightly at night. They open around 6:30pm and they start prepping. Everything here is freshly made. Nothing frozen.

Locals come from far and wide to get their fix from Teq-A-Bite. It truly is a catchy name. The owners are very nice. One of them asked what I was doing taking pictures and I explained. She was very happy to know that I would be blogging about her truck. It did not pop up on Urbanspoon or Yelp. And getting the word is out is what they are working on now.

All the different sauces are laid out to please all types of palates. The most famous of them all is the Garlic sauce. Tonight I ordered one burger to eat here and brought a sandwich home. The photos will reflect that.

La Callejera. (Stree Burger) Angus beef served on a fresh bun loaded with bacon, muenster cheese, fried egg, ham, avocado, tomato, garnished with salsa verde, ketchup, and mustard. WOW! What is there to say? The burger is made perfectly. You would think that a burger with so much could be overwhelming. But it’s made so well that every bit of the bite is enjoyed with all that is inside.

La Callejera is delicious. It is not messy at all. You pick up the sandwich in your hand and take a bite. The burger remains in tact. However, the sauce does come out when you take a bite. Or should I say Teq-A-Bite.

Pepito. (Meat Sandwich) 7 inch French bread filled with steak, garnished with lettuce, tomatoes, potatoes sticks, ketchup, mustard, green house sauce sprinkled with Parmesan cheese.

This one I took to go and took a pic of the inside when I got home. Again, the pics will reflect that.

Once I got home I was able to take a pic of the meat and how good it looked. I was saving this sandwich for tomorrow, but I decided to dig into it as soon as I got home. The meat was nice and tender and the Parmesan cheese on top truly adds another layer of flavor to the sandwich. Absolutely fantastic.

Teq-A-Bite team, Gracias por todo esta noche. Fue un placer hablar con ustedes y conocer un poco de su negocio. Felicidades, todo estuvo muy rico.

Las Palmas

Right in front of Gatorland. This Colombian restaurant is taken for granted in Orlando. Great portions and only okay customer service. That could use improvement, but the food is outstanding.

Very small place with lots of food. Most of the time the parking lot looks like this. Yet, the locals know they have to come here for some good home cooking.

This morning there were about 4 families having lunch. Plates come out of the kitchen sizzling. YUM. Nice looking bar area. I wonder if it gets busy at night here. I gotta check it out.

Nice place. Very clean and the ladies are hard at work serving the customers. Lot of diversity within the restaurant. All kinds of ethnicities in here today.

Tipico Montanero. (Medellin typical food) Rice, beans, pork strips, steak, sweet plantains, egg, and corn cake. This definitely rivals the Bandeja Paisa. Great Colombian dish. Very filling.

Come for the food. It’s great. Nice ambiance overall. Service so so. Plenty of parking. Check it out if ever in this area.

Mike And Tony’s

Even though I have the Foodbidden Funky Flu I still managed to get up and go food exploring.

Do not be surprised. This is not an incorrect picture. This place is inside the gas station.

I am here at the Shell Gas Station in Kissimmee. The Big EZ Market has loads of candies, drinks, snacks, etc. But many people don’t know the hidden gem inside.

Mike And Tony’s has been here for years helping the locals fulfill all their Puerto Rican cravings one bite at a time. Lunch specials everyday.

Mr. Tony has his Frituras (fried goodness) all ready to go this morning. He opens at 7:00am and closes at 5:00pm. @Xobejm and I would stop on the way home when he used to close a bit later. Best dinners in town. This morning I was in the mood for his breakfast special.

The Steak, Onions, Lettuce, Tomato, Cheese, Mayo, and Egg sandwich. Breakfast of champions. There was another gentleman there with me this morning trying to convince me to buy the Bacalaito as well.

Bacalaito (Cod Fish) Trying not to make Peter Pan and Captain Hook references right now. This was fantastic. I ordered it with a side of Mayo Ketchup (Mayo and Ketchup mixed together) for the perfect bite.

Mr. Tony named his place after his son Mike. Love the name and great food. All is made to order. He accepts Cash Only. Luckily for me they have an ATM in the gas station.
