Joanie’s Diner

Wifey and I were feeling adventurous after dropping off baby girl at school. Downtown Kissimmee is always a good place to start off the morning. Never too crowded and just the right amount of parking spaces right in front of the restaurants.

This was our first time at Joanie’s Diner. I first moved to Downtown Kissimmee in May of 1999. Downtown was smaller back then. Still had a small town feel to it and to this day the Historic District has remained feeling like home, but a much more renovated home.

The breakfast specials caught our eye so we had to go in and give it a try. We were welcomed by Sherry who was our server for this morning. First thing she offered was coffee and we said, Yes Please!

I wanted to try a bit of everything and I knew that the “Big Man” was the way to go. @Tarajroth ordered the “Little Man” and substituted French toast instead of hot cakes. The prices were great. The say to have the best burger in town and I would love to try their pies. @Tarajroth and I will have to come back in the near future.

Two huge cups of coffee always makes the morning brighter.

French Toast with powdered sugar and butter.

Hot Cakes with butter. I personally love the little butter packets. When I opened them up they would be melted just ready to pour on the hot cake.

Fried eggs (over medium), sausage, and bacon.

Fried eggs (over easy) and bacon.

Great food, great customer service, great local people hanging out and enjoying some good grub in the morning.

Sherry, thanks for the great and prompt service. Your smile was truly appreciated. Until we “Eat” again.

Two Thumbs Up!

Dapper’s Restaurant

I am guessing there is a West somewhere around these parts as well. My mom comes here every week with a friend.

My dad says this place is only for senior citizens and doesn’t like coming here. I said we need to check it out ourselves and see what happens.

For as long as I can remember this place has been here. It is located in the Addison Mall. There is a Target store within this mall now. My, my, how things have changed. I used to bank at Household Bank way back in the day. Ahhhh…….memories.

This morning we were hungry and ready for a great breakfast. As you all know my favorite is having a Mexican breakfast with steak, eggs, Chilaquiles, rice, and beans. But today I had to do something different.

Thin Waffle. Yep, that’s what I said. My mom special orders a thin waffle. This was delicious. My mom gave me a bite and I swear I am ordering it like this from now on.

Eggs, over medium, hash browns with cheese sauce and sausage.

Side of Ham. This was my favorite part of the meal.

@Xobejm had her usual. Scrambled eggs, sausage, and hash browns.

@Tarajroth had the French Toast, Eggs, over easy, and bacon

Papi had the huevos rancheros omelette and hash browns.

Pancakes. They must put something in the batter. These are very tasty.

Feast Shot. I have to always include these shots. So much joy to eat with family.

Great service and decent prices. Coffee keeps on coming and the restaurant is very clean. Nice and quiet which is what I loved the most about it. This is a must try in the city.

Bakin’ & Eggs

Chicago breakfast! I love my mom for joining me on my adventures. She was a bit hesitant at first.

I had seen this place while visiting my dad at the hospital and the name caught my eye.

We were greeted by Raña. With a roll of the tongue on the R. Very sweet woman. Latina at heart.

The cupcakes and the lattes looked amazing. Wish I could have tried one. We were too full after our meal.

The tables were put together too close. Which could be an issue if you are seated next to a stranger, but luckily it was just us in this area.

Oh Chicago. How I have missed you. Although, the one thing I didn’t like was paying for parking on Lincoln. It used to be free. Now you feel rushed while eating because of the time limit on the meter. Enough about that, LET’S TALK FOOD!!

Frittata Chorizo
Sautéed red onion, potatoes, queso fresco topped with fresh avocado, jalapeño, sour cream, and giardiniera on the side.

Breakfast burrito with fruit.
Bacon, eggs, cheddar, sautéed onions, and peppers, black bean salad, tomatillo avocado salsa, sour cream.

Chilaquiles and Eggs over easy.
We have to always order a bit more. Mom and I can eat.

Raña, thank you so much for your friendly service and for being Latina at heart. My mom said she would be coming back soon. She is hoping you will be there. Gracias.

Poncitlan Jalisco

I was craving a good Mexican breakfast for about three years now. Which was the last time I was here.

This was a great way to start my morning. I flew in to Chicago today and my parents took me straight to their favorite Mexican breakfast place. Poncitlan has been here for years. They have become good friends with my parents. Jose the owner of Poncitlan jokes with my dad about which soccer team they root for.

The place is pretty big. I mean it is no Kissimmee. This has much room and the staff here are working hard in the kitchen making every order as quickly as possible.

Guacamole. I love going to good Mexican restaurants and ordering this. All of the ingredients nice and fresh. Just what the doctor ordered.

Salsa and Guacamole.
Elvia was our server today. When we walked in the table was set and the menus laid on the table. Elvia knew my parents would be coming today since they come every Sunday. The place gets full quickly with all the locals. By the time we left people were waiting outside to be seated. Now lets talk FOOD!!

Desayuno Poncitlan. The Poncitlan breakfast. 3 over easy eggs, topped with ranchero sauce and ribeye.

Desayuno Poncitlan.
This is the same dish with no ranchero sauce. My mom and dad like it plain. I enjoyed it with the sauce on top.

Chilaquiles Rojos.
I was very hungry after a short flight from Orlando. I always have to order one more thing just to have something extra. I ordered this as a side. It tends to come with eggs and steak as well.

Elvia y Jose, Gracias for todo. Mis papas siempre hablan de ustedes y que siempre los tratan muy bien. Se los agradezco mucho.

Kona Cafe

Inside Disneys Polynesian Resort. Kona Cafe was the place to be for our 10 year anniversary. Great breakfast options.

The amount of people here daily is overwhelming. This place is always hoppin. Ann was our server today. Starting us off with some great Kona Coffee.

Kona Coffee Press Pot is the best way to start this party. This was so smooth. I am still feeling the effects of it.

Big Kahuna. French toast, pancakes topped with pineapple sauce and Macadamia nut butter, eggs, home-fried potatoes, ham, bacon, and sausage.

Tonga Toast. Banana stuffed sour dough French toast rolled in cinnamon sugar and served with strawberry compote and bacon.

Overall great place to start off your day. Amazing breakfast!

Kouzzina by Cat Cora

Our anniversary staycation starts off with a great breakfast this morning. @tarajroth and I have been here several times and the food has always been fantastic. Located at Disney’s Boardwalk

The entrance is gorgeous. Today was a 30 minute wait. Tourism is alive and kickin’. Lots of locals and tourist make this place a busy breakfast spot.

Lots of people, so this was the only shot I could take safely. Hollie was our server today and she was awesome.

Cafe Latte is a must when you are here. Nice and smooth. They have a press pot signature coffee blend. We need to try this the next time we come.

Stacked Kouzzina Breakfast. Two poached eggs, Kalamata olive toast, artichoke spread, and sweet potato hash with chicken sausage.

Breakfast skillet. With eggs, pequillo peppers, Nueske’s bacon, onions, potatoes, Greek cheese, topped with Arugula.

UPDATE!! This just in. We went ahead and ordered the Kouzzina Press Pot Coffee. Available only at Kouzzina. Robust and Unique flavors according to their menu.

Hollie, you were amazing. Thanks for making our anniversary special. We love your smile.

Kissimmee Bakery and Restaurant

It has been a long time since I have eaten here. My buddy Enrique and I come here for their Pupusas. This bakery is a Puerto Rican and Salvadorian restaurant.
They have been in Kissimmee for over 14 years. The locals come for the lunch specials and bakery treats.

The people here are super friendly. Lots of Central American warmness in this place. I was greeted with a smile as soon as I walked in. They are open from 7:30am to 8pm Monday to Saturday. They open at 10am Sundays.

Nice looking place. Not too small. This place becomes super busy during lunch and dinner. My father in law loves their chicken soup. Everything is made to order. It has always been a hard place to find. 192 traffic is so crazy that if you blink you will definitely miss it.

The cafe con leche is always a must. One thing about Kissimmee, you should bring your own Splenda. Only regular sugar here.

Breakfast special. Eggs, bacon, ham, toast, and fries. Best breakfast ever! Delicious. Crispy bacon which @tarajroth would love. The toast is awesome with the butter inside. I had them add in the ham because it sounded good, and it was. You usually have a choice of one protein.

Kissimmee Bakery, Gracias por todo. El desayuno estuvo riquísimo. Pienso regresar pronto con la familia.

Las Paraguitas Cafe

While leaving the port and heading home we wanted to make a quick stop before heading to Kissimmee. @urbanspoon was able to guide us to this lovely place in Hollywood Florida.

Los Paraguitas (The Little Umbrellas). In a small shopping center on the corner of Hollywood Blvd and SR 7.

Nice little place with a lot of character. The locals would come in and get their Cortadito and be on their way. Angela and I decided on the Cafe con Leche instead.

We like it “Clarito” with a little more milk. It is obvious they are using Cafe Bustelo. The smooth taste comes through in every sip.

Pericos breakfast. (Not pictured: Toast). Eggs, onions, tomatoes, green peppers, ham. I have said this before, but my dad used to make them with onions and tomatoes and I always loved them cooked this way.

Cuban Sandwich. This was Angela’s dish. I was telling her that you would think such a simple sandwich would be easy to make, but it’s not. Here in Los Paraguitas they make it just right. Nice to be able to be in Hollywood Florida and get a Cuban sandwich from a Cuban Cafe. It’s kind of a novelty here in Kissimmee/Orlando.

Muchos pero muchos thanks to Angela for joining me on my adventures. A true foodie at heart!

Zilly Bee Cafe

I believe that everything in this world is a partnership and everyone and anyone can and should contribute in any way that they can. In this case, this was all @tarajroth and @xobejm.

They took the pictures and ate the food and gave me their reactions and what they thought. Thank you so much girls for your contribution. Most importantly, we get to spread the word out about the amazing local businesses.

As everyone knows, having an outlet where you are seated is a BIG PLUS! You can eat and “juice” up your device while you are there.

All photos courtesy of @xobejm. Thank you so much baby girl.
Corn beef hash, fried eggs, toast, and fruit.

French Toast with butter. @Tarajroth says,
“Oh! Add to Zilly’s… Walking in you could smell the coffee and syrup smells of breakfast! It had my mouth watering.”

@Xobejm got the Kids Sunrise on the left corner. This is in downtown Orlando. They were both hanging out and walked over to Zilly’s. Parking is not so easy to find.

Both @xobejm and @tarajroth were very pleased with this place.

Zilly’s staff, thank you so much for treating my family so well. My family loved it. Great customer service is valuable for us. I cannot wait to be eat there myself.

Cafe Gauguin

This morning was a rushed start kind of morning. @Xobejm had to be picked up by @vleboss and I had to run out for work. But first, breakfast. Located inside the Rosen Centre Hotel.

While searching on Urbanspoon Cafe Gauguin popped up. One review was good and the other bad. Ramon the manager sat down with me and said they have a great brunch and dinner as well. I let him know I am not a buffet guy, but these options were great.

You have a choice of ordering from the menu or from the buffet. My server Laurielle greeted me and offered me coffee. Yes indeed!

With all these options I went with the buffet. Now, don’t get me wrong, this was an expensive breakfast. Breakfast buffet starts at 16.95. Which I was okay with this morning because of the amount of choices.

I went simple today. Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, and a croissant. Truly a breakfast of champions. I enjoyed tasting one of each item. They had so much more to offer, but I went simple today.

Fruits, waffles, toast, etc. Included in the buffet was the make our own omelette station. Yum. I just couldn’t do it today. Next time for sure.

Laurielle, thank you so much for your kindness and your sweet demeanor. You are awesome. Keep up the good work.
