Homemade Food

Oh yes you did read that correctly. The name of the restaurant is Homemade Food and it’s name suits it well.

The decor caught my eye immediately. The salsa music in the background was a nice touch as well. The place is very clean.

Empanadas. They have typical breakfast specials in the morning. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner Rider Ferreira. He has very proud of his restaurant and told me that he had been open for less than a month.

The ground beef was my dish for the day. The owner was nice enough to let me sample some of the soup they had for today. It was a chicken and beef soup. Very tasty.

Each day they have three proteins: shredded chicken, shredded beef, and Pernil (pork). In addition they will have another protein depending on the day. The option of black beans and red beans made me happy. They also had vegetables.

Love the hours of operations. Hard to find a place that opens early morning. The young lady who served me was very friendly and very helpful. She says they have a great breakfast in the mornings.

Carne Molida with black beans and white rice. This ground beef was amazing. It has been a long time since I have had a good tasting picadillo.

Mango Juice. They have several natural juices to choose from. Regular and Latin sodas are served as well.

Tres Leches. Very good. Not too sweet. It was a good way to end my meal.

Two Thumbs Up!! Rider, gracias por todo. Espero regressed pronto con mi familia. Sorry that I forgot your staff persons name. She was great. Always nice to get excellent customer service.

Señor Iguanas. Cozumel Mexico

I would like to give MUCHO thanks to @burgerbeast and Mrs. @burgerbeast for suggesting this place. Definitely off the beat and path. Or should I say off the “BEAST” and path. Also, big thanks to Angela who always puts up with me and all my food adventures and joining me today.

Great Mexican restaurant in Cozumel Mexico near the beach. Tourist come from all over the world just to sit down and have a Corona and then be on their way. This is the usual taxi stop when the taxi drivers give you a tour of the island.

Our view from our table was breathtaking. When @burgerbeast told me about the place and showed me pics I knew this was something I had to do.

Amazing. Felt so good to sit and hear the crashing of the waves. The breeze today was perfect. Now…on to the FOOD stuff!

Ok not yet, first I had to show what the bar looks like. We came early so the bar was not hopping. Once we were leaving lots of people were stopping by. Ok, NOW on to the FOOD stuff!!

WOW! The salsa was truly the freshest I have had. Angela had to ask what was inside. All fresh cut goodies. Best part was the Habanero peppers. Had a great kick to it. Excellent pico de gallo!

Guacamole. Once again. Freshly made. Not often have I found a place that makes it all on the spot. You can definitely taste the difference.

Arrachera Fajitas. Angela ordered these and they were great. They also had a mix of shrimp, chicken, and steak. Luckily, Angela and I were in the mood for all steak today.

Arrachera tacos, black beans, guacamole, salad. We ate these in two seconds. They were nice and soft and tender. Very flavorful. The tacos come plain and you add what you want. We always added the pico de gallo to everything.

Feast Shot. I cannot tell you how quickly we ate all of this. It was delicious. Only one observation, no Mexican coke. We got Pepsi in a can.

House Sangria. Angela saw it on the menu and it got her attention. They brought it over and even I tried some. Very refreshing! Not too overwhelming strong. Perfect ending to a great meal.

Foodbidden TWO THUMBS UP!!

I was not able to get specific address on this location. Will update when I can. Also, if getting off the cruise ship go to the Taxi area and ask for Señor Iguana Restaurant next to Mezcalitos. All the drivers know the place. It’s about a 30 minute drive from the pier.

Q’Kenan Venezuelan Restaurant

Today was a sunny day and I could not get the sign outside of the building. Best pic I could get was this one. @Eatlocalorlando has suggested this place for a long time and I finally made it.

Nice place. Super friendly group of folks. The woman helping me today was Andrea. She wanted to take time and explain the menu. I opened it up and went straight to the Andino breakfast. They also have lunch specials from 11am to 3pm. The Venezuelan typical dishes.

Andino breakfast.
Scrambled eggs with onions and tomatoes. Black beans and grated cheese. AMAZING. This was made so well. Perfect taste. Even the black beans were perfect and not too overly seasoned.

Arepa with butter. Nice and thick in texture and very filling. Most Arepas tend to be empty in the middle. These were filled to the gills.

Cafe con leche. Nicely made. This hit the spot since I had a big headache. This cafecito took all the pain away.

Andrea, Gracias por su ayuda y por ser tan amable. Espero regresar pronto con mi familia.

P.R.’s Taco Palace

The colors alone tell you why I stopped and had to eat here. Right next to @CaskLarder this place has a unique personality. Kandi was the first one to greet me. Very nice and gave me her recommendations. Randi was my server today and was sweet as can be.

Extremely colorful. Looks very festive. Love it. Very strange to not have any Spanish people working here, but the team here is very friendly and I feel like I am in Key West. : )

The place is huge. Huge bar. As you can see everything is written on. The chairs, tables, and the walls are written on with black marker, pen, some carved in the wood, etc. Very cool.

Chips and Salsa. Just the right kick in the salsa. This was very good. Very well made. They have been here for 21 years. Can’t believe I didn’t spot it until now.

Big Red Taco. Chicken breast, breaded then fried and topped with wing sauce and bleu cheese.

Double Stuffed Taco. Crunchy taco filled with ground beef, lettuce, tomato, and cheese wrapped in a flour tortilla with refried beans.

Black beans and rice with cheese. The cheese on top of the rice and beans made this dish amazing.

Everything was very good. Kandi mentioned they have the best burger in town too. Next time I go I will have to check it out. Great place to come and have a good time. If you are eating in, when the train goes by they serve $3.00 tequila shots. By the way, the train goes by often.

Randi and Kandi, thank you so much for the making me feel welcomed as soon as I walked in. You two are very nice. Will come back with the family for sure.

Puerto Rico’s Cafe

Puerto Rico’s Cafe

Amazing sign seen driving east or west on 192 in Kissimmee. A bit West of Central. @Xobejm and I were again feeling like something different and yet something delicious. While trying to avoid all types of holiday traffic I stumbled upon Puerto Rico’s Cafe. They have been here for over 20 years and I learned very quickly why that was.

There is this sense of elegance to this place. For a second, I felt I was actually in Puerto Rico while admiring the design of the building.

As is common for me to take my slanted pictures I truly was intrigued by the door. To the right of this door is another just like it. @Xobejm and I were not sure which one to open. Door number 1 or door number 2? We chose door number one, which is this door here.

This is way more space than I am used to around these parts. Lots of seating and the place is spotless. Locals come here to enjoy their cafecito con leche and a freshly made Mofongo.

The decor is amazing in Puerto Rico’s Cafe. All is laid out so well. And again I felt like I was in Puerto Rico all over again.

The bench caught my eye. And the lunch and dinner specials as well. : ) They have a variety of items to choose from and the specials change daily.

This is behind the wall where that bench was. It’s a little bar where you can get your smoothies, beer, etc. It’s also the counter to pay when you are done eating.
Now, on to the good stuff!!

Carmen, our server brought out a bread basket to start. This always makes my day. Just the right amount of garlic on top. Starting with this let me know that @xobejm and I were in for a delicious meal. Carmen was very nice and sweet. When Carmen walked away I got up to take some more pics and took the menu so I could be sure to write everything I ordered correctly. That’s when Rachel came to the table and made sure everything was okay. I explained what I was doing and she just wanted to be sure we had ordered already. Very friendly staff here and very attentive.

Rachel was sweet enough to bring out a Piña Colada smoothie for @xobejm. She not only did it for Baby Girl, but for another young girl in the restaurant. I thought that was awesome. I knew for a fact that Rachel must kill at night because she was way too nice.

I ordered the Churrasco (skirt steak) with white rice and black beans. These black beans were just like my mom made at home. Not too salty, which happens often in other restaurants. These were perfect. I ordered the steak medium and it was tender and delicious. @Xobejm ended up eating most of it as well. She loved this one.

Our second dish was the Mofongo stuffed with Chicken and garlic. Most places don’t serve it with the chicken broth on the side. Most times you have to ask for it. Here at Puerto Rico’s Cafe they include it with the dish. I ate almost all of this. This was fantastic.

For dessert we had the Cheese Flan, which came recommended by Carmen. Rachel said she preferred the Coconut flan. Rachel, by the way, is the grand daughter of the owner of Puerto Rico’s Cafe. Sweetest woman I have ever come across in any establishment. Made @xobejm and I feel very comfortable. I am not a lover of Flan but I took a bite and inhaled the rest of it. This was insanely good!!

Second dessert was the Tres Leches. This is Baby Girl’s favorite any place we go. I had a bite of this and this was very tasty. With all these dishes we had to bring one home with us. The Grilled Pork Chops for @tarajroth.

To Go: The Grilled Pork Chops with white rice, garlic bread, and small salad. Puerto Rico’s cafe has taken these pork chops to another level. Look at the size. These are nice and juicy. Truly the perfect pork chop.

Rachel and Carmen, Gracias por todo. La comida estuvo deliciosa! Vamos a regresar muy pronto.
