Cask And Larder Brunch | Foodbidden

Cask And Larder Brunch

To make a long story short. I was at Cask and Larder last week for brunch and I had to go again. What an amazing place. I wanted to take pics of the restaurant but was so obsessed with the food I went right to it. We got the menu and literally circled 7 things off the menu. Last week we had done the same thing. Family style always works with heavy duty foodies. Adrienne, our server, who we had last week just kept the dishes coming as we cleared each dish that came to us. We requested Adrienne to be our server again this week. She is very attentive and super sweet. So now let’s talk food. In order of appearance.

The Bloody Mary ordered by my lovely sister in law. My brother in law had a sip and he said it was like a cold soup with all types of yumminess inside. The staff recommended this drink. Good stuff.

First dish was the Fried chicken & Waffles. Orange ricotta, maple balsamic, blackberries. Now understand, I have had these before in Hollywood California at the popular Roscoes Chicken and Waffles. Cask and Larder took these to a whole new level in taste. The maple balsamic makes your taste buds pop.

The Southern Ma’am. Grilled brioche, swiss cheese, ham jam, fried egg, greens. Need I say more?? The pic and the description is enough. I love this dish. Every time I get it I can’t get enough of it.

Anson Mills grits with ham butter. I am not and have never been a fan of grits. Until now. And with the ham butter makes it the perfect bite. My sister in law ordered these and they were divine.

Bacon and eggs. Crispy vanilla pork belly, scrambled eggs, sourdough. I know for a fact that it took me two seconds to eat them because they were so good. I loved having a bit of everything and sharing with the family.

Frittata. Chorizo, roasted potatoes, swiss cheese, hen of the woods. This one was my idea. I had seen it last week on the menu and decided to try it today. So glad I did. Very light and flavorful. The chorizo made this dish for me.

Buttermilk pancakes. Ginger-maple sausage, roasted potatoes, Virginia maple syrup. I agree with my brother in law, these pancakes were just the right size and fluffiness. And the sausage flavor was intense. There were all kinds of flavor in each bite.

French toast. Battered and deep fried, Apple butter, roasted pumpkin, foie gras. Foie Gras, Nuff said!!

Biscuits & Gravy. Black pepper biscuits, pork sausage gravy. Nice and soft biscuits. Baked to perfection and the gravy hits the spot.

Bakeshop on a board. Profiteroles, muffins, coffee cake, apple cider glazed fritters. A perfect ending to a fantastic meal. A taste of each baked good. One word, WOW! The family favorite was the Profiteroles: A pastry filled with raspberry jam and peanut butter mousse.

Overall this experience was amazing. I would come here every Sunday if I could. Some reviews on line were negative. Don’t know what they were thinking and not sure what they ate because everything is so good here. Great service from Adrienne. We will ask for her each time we go.

Nara Deva Thai

Wow! What a day. Started off with a brunch from Cask and Larder (@CaskLarder) and ended with some great Thai food courtesy of Nara Deva Thai (@naradevathai). I am super exhausted so here it goes. Thank you so much to @kokocooks and @Joeyme1 for such a fantastic meal. Also, a huge thank you to the owner and the staff of @naradevathai. We are so grateful for your kindness. Ok, now lets get to the good stuff.

Spring Rolls. Crispy Spring Rolls, stuffed with shredded cabbage, grated carrots and fragrant mushrooms,
chopped celery and clear noodles, served with Thai Sweet Chili Sauce.

Thai Jerky. Marinated in flavorful Thai Jerky sauce, deep fried & served with Spicy Lemon & Chili dip.

Chicken Curry Puffs. Crunchy Puff Pastries filled with mildly spiced, curried chicken and potatoes.

DEVA FRIED RICE : Garlic Chili optional. House Recipe Fried Rice with Thai blend tomato sauce, with chopped ham, bacon, sausage,
sweet corn, sweet peas, tomatoes & onions, topped with a Crispy fried egg.
This one I have ordered for the second time and I love it. That rice has a little bit of everything. It’s perfect.

Thai signature – fried noodles (Pad Thai). Stir-fried Rice noodles in Pad Thai shrimp-flavored Tamarind Sauce, with eggs, scallion, bean sprouts,
and crushed peanuts.
Fantastic. This one was @kokocooks dish.

Sautéed spicy Thai basil sauce (Pad Kaprao). Ground Chicken sautéed in spicy Thai Basil Sauce, with long beans and bamboo shoots.
This time I didn’t get Thai Hot. I just ordered medium. @Joeyme1 had ordered a Thai hot Panang Curry (not pictured) so we ordered the rest of the dishes non spicy.

A total of 4 adults and 2 children. They accommodate families. Very nice decor. Their Thai Tea is amazing. This is a must try place. We like eating family style so it makes it easy for us to try a little bit of each others food. Experience Thai food like never before.

The Grand Opening has arrived. And as you know I stay away from chains or anything that resembles a chain. However, I am a sucker for burgers.

The team at the register were working hard on this grand opening day. Everyone very friendly and outgoing.

The people patiently waiting for their food. The food is brought to your table. You are given a number that you place in a holder.

Nice concept. They bring you your food and drinks. I liked this part.

We ordered a Chai shake and a Chocolate shake. (No pictures). The Chai shake was very tasty and I am going back again and ordering five of those.

I like the B concept. Their menu explains how they came to “B”.

Love the decor around the place. The ambience is not what I am used to in a burger joint. This is much more upscale.

It was fantastic. I was greeted at the door by a team member and he made his recommendation. He had me at onion strings. I ordered the Bacon Cheesy 4-pack with lettuce, tomato, bacon, cheddar cheese, toasted Hawaiian rolls. I was alone so only one burger was ordered. I am definitely going again.

Cask and Larder Whole Cookery Feast | Foodbidden

Cask and Larder Whole Cookery Feast

Seems unfair that I am writing about Cask and Larder again. I have gone now three weeks in a row. Tempted to make a reservation for next week as well just to feel I have been there every weekend of this month. This time it was different. We did and evening event. We had a pre set menu. It’s called the Whole Cookery Feast. You have several pre set menu items to choose from.

The selection for this evening was the Suckling Pig. With the sides that you see posted above. The pig is brought out for our viewing pleasure. As foodies/food bloggers we just had to take pictures.

I couldn’t get really good picture the front of the pig. @CaskLarder was nice enough to send me a picture they had taken so I will post that one as well.

Photo courtesy of Cask and Larder (@CaskLarder)

Here is what it looks like when “foodsters” get together to make a perfect pic

The pig is then taken out of the room while we start getting served salads.

While anxiously awaiting the pig we had some beverages. @CaskLarder brews their own beers and makes fantastic mixed drinks. The bar in the evening is always hoppin’ and the beer flights are the most popular order.
Now back to the good part, We were asked if we wanted to order any extra sides and of course the answer was yes. As we were finishing the salad the sides started coming out.

I only took a pic of the Mac and cheese because it was my favorite. Other sides that fellow “foodsters” ordered I did not take pics of. I was truly not in a side dish picture sort of mood tonight. But then, the moment of truth. They brought in what we were all waiting for. The pig

Again, not the best pics because we were all eating and taking pics and moving around. But again, to give you an idea of what the family style feast looks like.
There were a total of eight of us and we had to get boxes to go because it was so much food. Adam our server was nice enough to make individual boxes and split up a little bit of everything in the box. Once most of us, except @Droolius, had thrown in the towel @CaskLarder brought out the dessert.

Again, done family style. A little bit of everything for dessert. As you can see from the menu above it is a chef’s selection. Which I like, I know if I come again the dessert will be different for the next feast. I loved that about their brunch. It changed week by week. I like that they mix it up and always keep it new. I really can’t say enough about this place. It’s my third time coming this month. I think that says it all. Come and check them out when you are in the Winter Park area.

Thanks to the @CaskLarder team working hard serving us our meals tonight. Also, big thanks to the “foodsters” that ate tonight. Until we “Eat” again my friends. Looking forward to it.

While I type this I wonder why I am even blogging about this place. It’s been around so long and it’s so well known that millions of bloggers have written about it. So, lets get to the “food” stuff,

This is the Signature Angus Brisket sandwich. My dear friend @eatlocalorlando got the Brisket dinner which was just the brisket with no bread and it comes with sides and a biscuit. This was out of this world. Now I see why people line up for this place. Baby girl and I waited about twenty minutes to get in. Always nice to wait in line with good company. I had @kokocooks @Joeyme1 @ttyeats @xobejm and @eatlocalorlando who came later on. Great eats and great peeps!

Not sure why the pic looks tiny but regardless I had to post it. This is their Santa Maria Tri-Tip Steak. Ironically enough, I didn’t order this sandwich. It was rung up as mine and I told them I would keep it. I am a true foodie at heart. As sides we ordered the Mac and cheese (not pictured) and the Krispy Kreme Bread pudding (not pictured) that was ordered by @eatlocalorlando. Wow. They were both great.

Within the restaurant they have The Sweet Shop. They have an array of sweets and treats so I had to get the dozen cupcakes. I just asked them to give me an assortment.

Great place. Didn’t have many pics because I was hanging out with some awesome people. Just means we gotta make plans to go again. LET’S EAT!!

Not pictured: The Burnt Ends Signature Stackers with French fries ordered by @Joeyme1

Check them out on the web and see their menu items. Also, check out their hours of operations. If you want it to go you have to either call it in or go in a separate door that has a separate line for To Go orders only.

Border Grill Fresh Mex | Foodbidden

Border Grill Fresh Mex

Happy Black Friday! I did not go shopping, but I did eat. Gorgeous day in Orlando. I got a tip from @eatlocalorlando and @yelporlando about a great Mexican restaurant in Orlando. Thanks to C and C for their recommendations.
Thanks to @droolius for his suggestions as well.

Nice and cozy place. People were seated behind me in the one and only booth and the rest were stools like shown in the pictures above. This place could probably seat about 15 people max. My kind of restaurant.

This is where the food magic happens. You can tell by the pic it’s a small place. I love spots like this.

Freshly made Mexican juices (aguas frescas) on the bottom and Mexican cokes up above and Jarritos.

Menu on the board. Look at the choices above. Plus they have specials everyday.

Growing up in Chicago I loved the small Mexican restaurants that had small menus. Let us begin shall we,

Cheese quesadillas. Baby girls favorite. In her own words these are “REALLY” cheesy. They come with pico de gallo and sour cream.

An assortment of tacos: Pastor, Pibil (Yucatan Slow Roasted Pork), Grilled Chicken, Chorizo, and Steak. And needless to say they come with cilantro and onions. Wifey and I started with these and had to get a second round because they were so good. Decided on getting them a la carte to try a bit of everything. Round two was just as tasty as round one.

Choice of sauces. From super baby to super hot. Wifey and I went for the super hot Habanero with Avocado, pictured below.

Washed it all down with an agua de Tamarindo. Great way to end a great meal. There was no room for desserts. We will have to come again and try them.

Veronica our server and possibly part owner had told me that they make their aguas frescas from scratch.
The Mexican food is truly authentic and cooked with the D.F. flare that you don’t find in most parts of Orlando or Florida for that matter. I see why they are highly rated in all their reviews.
Don’t be fooled by the pictures. This place is hoppin’ at all times. Wifey made an observation. Even though there were Latinos who were in the restaurant, most of their clientele were Americanos. We ALWAYS enjoy seeing diversity within a Mexican restaurant. All for the love of food.

Mi Bandeja Paisa. Fine Colombian Cuisine | Foodbidden

Mi Bandeja Paisa. Fine Colombian Cuisine

Mi Bandeja Paisa. Fine Colombian Cuisine.

Tonight was a busy night, work wise. My sister in law @vleboss did me the huge favor of picking up my baby girl since I was doing an assignment far from the area. It was her idea to go out and have dinner. I suggested a new place that I wanted to try and I recommended Mi Bandeja Paisa. @urbanspoon has great reviews on this place, so I figured it needed a Foodbidden type of mention. It was myself, @vleboss, her hubby David, and @xobejm.
This picture was at night and my iPhone 5 failed me for this shot. The entrance is nice. The only thing is that it’s right in the corner of the strip mall and very easy to miss. Mi Bandeja Paisa is on the corner of John Young Parkway and Deerfield. In the same strip mall that Martin’s BBQ was located awhile back.

This is what you see. It’s hidden in the corner. I think they get most of their business word of mouth because this place is a little hard to find.

The raw and unedited Foobidden pics. Haha. This was while we were getting seated.

While first entering the restaurant the decor was spectacular and check out those tiles on the floor. Very nice place.

Nice little bar. I love the low lights and how quaint the place is.

We were greeted with an Ipad demonstration of what the menu offerings were for the evening. Our servers Jairo and Kenner took very good care of us this evening. We made sure at the end of our meal to tip them well.

My sister in law (SIL) @vleboss ordered the Sangria. I don’t drink, but I took a taste and it was good. The bits and pieces of orange were my favorite.

I had come to this restaurant for this dish in particular. You can never go wrong with a Bandeja Paisa.

We started off with the Patacones con Guacamole, Green plantains served with house specialty freshly made guacamole. This was all @vleboss. I would not have gotten that on my own.

@vleboss ordered the Churrasco al Carbon 20oz., 20oz mouthwatering NY steak. Butterfly cut to perfection served with green plantains and fresh romaine salad.

David ordered the Lomo Saltado, Tender strips of Julienne cut skirt steak. Sautéed with cherry tomatoes, cilantro, grilled onions, and French fries served with rice.

My order was the Bandeja Paisa, Fusion of charbroiled top sirloin, rice, imported cargamanto beans, avocado, corn cake, pork, sausage, egg, and sweet plantains.

This was my favorite part of the evening. The mini desserts. Assorted flavors, this evening we had Tiramisu, Mango, Chocolate, and Coconut.

Orlando’s best kept secret. Go and check them out. This place had me wanting more.

This one I can’t even believe myself. I went to go eat at Mi Bandeja Paisa again today. Two days in a row. This time I went with JB, KB, and @xobejm. As you know from my prior post, they serve huge portions. Well, this time I brought food to go. Meaning what? I had more room for dessert and treats. Last night, while going to Mi Bandeja Paisa I noticed lots of local people going into this bakery. So, of course I had to @urbanspoon it and see what was up with this place. WOWZA!! First of all, lots of positive comments and high ratings. KB had said she had been here before and said, LEGGO!! So, we did.

One word. DANG! Nice. Check out the place. I have truly been surprised with these small Latino businesses and their ability to look stylish.

Nice little selection there of treats and goodies. KB said she had come for breakfast one time before and she loved it. They had so many sweets.

They just keep on going and going.

Tres Leches and yes, more chocolate.

How were we supposed to decide. Finally, JB took the plunge and ordered a few. I followed with my order as well. Since we were too full from dinner, we decided to get them to go.

White chocolate cake, Mocha, and for baby girl the Tres Leches.

They were open pretty late. It was about 8:15pm. I would not expect a bakery to be open at this time. When I passed by yesterday the place was packed. And today before dinner it was again. I will have to check it out during breakfast as well to see what they got.

With just one concern. One of the workers in the back. A young man. He was sitting on one of the counters while customers were in the store. As a customer, I feel that they should show more courtesy and respect towards the clientele. I am sure it was after his work shift and he was just hanging out, but it just didn’t feel appropriate.

All the treats and sweets were amazing. I suggest if you are in the area to check them out. Yummy sweets!

It was not a good day for me. I had a hard time in of the restaurants in Kissimmee and I was very upset. I decided to drive 40 minutes to Red Eye BBQ for some good service and great food. I had been here before with @kokocooks and @Joeyme1. It was delicious and the owner was very nice. It was their first day of business. It was nice to be there for the opening. I knew this would be a great place since there is a family connection somehow to @darlandbakery. Any family of @darlandbakery is like family to me.
I came a month later. This was @xobejm and @tarajroth first time here. They didn’t know what to expect. We have had BBQ but we hadn’t found the perfect BBQ spot. Especially, around the Kissimmee area. We started with an appetizer.

The Red Eye Sliders. I have not been a cornbread fan until I tasted these. Loads of flavor and their sauce is amazing. They also have their signature sauces that you can choose from.

@Tarajroth got the Chili. Great taste and it wasn’t too overwhelming with meat and spices. It was just right. The cheese on top made this Chili bowl absolutely perfect.

@Xobejm got the Mac and Cheese with Veggies. The presentation was amazing for every dish we got. Makes it ideal for taking good food pics. Baby girl enjoyed it immensely. I tasted some of her dish and it was very good. Again, not overwhelming with cheese but just the right balance.

@Tarajroth got the Mojo Joe Burger as her entree. Fried egg, cheddar cheese bacon and ranch dressing. The perfect bite. All those flavors together were mouth watering good. We cut this puppy in half and all the juices coming out made me want to take one huge bite.

My dish was the Ribs, Pulled Pork, and Beef Brisket with baked beans. I wanted to taste a bit of everything and this was the perfect dish for me. I was able to take advantage and taste a bit of all their sauces as well. Everything was tasty.

I called this shot the family feast shot. Incredible. So many choices on their menu. We only experienced the tip of it. Ocoee Florida has lucked out having this restaurant in their neighborhood.

On the corner of Michigan street and one block east of Orange Avenue in Orlando. Right next to the pawn shop. I just like saying that. Next to the pawn shop. : )

It’s not $2.99 for the breakfast special. Well, it is depending on what you order.

It’s truly $1.99 for a daily breakfast special. Very few options which can be a god thing when looking for a nice little breakfast joint. Eggs, sausage, bacon, home fries, etc. Perfect choices for me.

Sweets and treats at all times of the day. They also make custom cakes for all occasions. They open at 6:30am and close at 5:00pm. Monday to Saturday. 6:30am to 2pm on Sundays. They post their lunch specials everyday on Facebook. They have a small buffet for lunch. Beans, rice, meats, and today they had Lasagna. Great variety of foods. Just $4.99 for their daily lunch specials. They have Mofongo as well.

Small place with a lot of loyal local customers. Most of the people pick up their empanadas for breakfast and head on out. I was lucky to sit down and enjoy the ambience for a bit.

My breakfast special was the number one. Two eggs, home fries, and a passion fruit juice. Their toast was magnificent. For all of us who have a breakfast budget, this is the place to be. Dabeni is always there to greet you when you come in and the breakfast is made on the spot. I had come here a few months ago with @annrodoz and Dabeni was very friendly and always in a great mood. Today was no different.
If using a credit card there is a $5.00 minimum. Needless to say, I bought lots of sweets to meet the minimum.

Blue Bird Bake Shop

Blue Bird Bake Shop

After eating a great lunch it was time to venture out and find the famous and well known Blue Bird Bake Shop. As seen from my previous posts I am a SERIOUS cupcake fan. I had heard many stories from the local food lovers that this was the place to be.

I follow and retweet them often on Twitter. I think it was @eatlocalorlando who got me hooked on seeing their daily specials. They all looked so good, so I started following them and trying to spread the word about their bake shop.

Not hard to miss at all. I loved being able to find it easily because of all the signs on the exterior. I was hoping to meet the person who tweets their daily specials but the person was not in today.

Great place. Nice and clean and it smells great as soon as you come in. Billy was the gentleman at the counter helping us out today. We told him it was our first time and he really took the time to explain what cupcakes they had and what they contained.

The daily specials ready to be eaten by me. : ) While we were there some folks walked in saying they were from Texas and specifically came to this place for cupcakes.

The Christmas tree and the decorations made the Blue Bird Bake Shop come alive.

This place is immaculate. Great use of space. I like the counters. They also have comfy sofas to have a seat while enjoying their cupcakes and some tables as well. We ordered cupcakes and ate here to enjoy the great smell of freshly baked goodies and enjoying the ambience.

We order one for each of us. Starting at the top: I ordered the Upside Down, @xobejm got the Tuxedo, and @tarajroth got the Sweet Cake.

Billy took the time to describe what each one had inside. I was so in awe of the establishment and that I was finally here that I never paid attention to the ingredients or what the cupcakes had inside. All I know is that they were delicious. The cream cheese icing was perfect and the chocolate was divine.

It was a short stop, but we finally made it! Glad we did. We will be coming back.

If you are ever in Orlando come and check them out. Great place with great cupcakes.

Teak Neighborhood Grill

First of all, thanks so much to @eatlocalorlando for inviting me to the Lunch Brunch. You are awesome man! What a pleasure to meet so many wonderful people. Also, thanks to Kelli Matheny (@OrlandoFamStyle) for hosting this event. Looking forward to future get togethers with all of you. Until we “Eat” again!

I had @tarajroth and @xobejm with me today. It was a first time for the three of us. Actually, it was a first time for most of us there. We were looking forward to a new adventure with new fellow foodies and Yelpers.

I had heard and read a lot about Teak Neighborhood Grill. Today was the day to taste it for myself.

This is a great place. I picture this place at night full of excitement. Watching all kinds of sports games and hanging out on the patio. Located in Metrowest this place must get packed at night.

The patio is open for action at 5pm. I was able to get a sneak peek and take some pictures thanks to Melanie who asked me to be sure to post this on Urbanspooon. Oh, Melanie, you know me so well. : )

The pictures don’t do this patio justice. It’s huge. Very spacious. I will have to check this place out in the evening just to see how much fun they have here. They have all sorts of beers and happy hours on certain days and times. Now, on to the Food stuff!

We were 18 deep at Teak today. Didn’t think @TeakOrlando would be up for the challenge, but they took care of us efficiently and effectively! Cassandra was on fire today helping us all out with drink and food orders. Cassandra, thank you so much for all your service today. You were amazing!!

@Xobejm and @tarajroth started off with a House Salad with Ranch dressing. Again, don’t be fooled by the picture. This salad was huge and very tasty.

@Xobejm ordered the Grain Fed Baby Back Ribs (Half Rack) with Garlic French Fries and Garlic Mashed Potatoes. Unbelievable!! Baby Girl finished those ribs in a second.

@Tarajroth ordered the Blackened Chicken Pesto. Blackened Chicken, Diced Tomatoes, Fresh Mozzarella in a Creamy Pesto Sauce. I had a taste of this and I loved it. Wifey brought this home and looking forward to eating her leftovers.

The main reason I was here!! The Brazilian Burger. (Insert Brazilian wax joke here) Ham, Over Medium Egg, Potato strings, Provolone, Bibb, Tomato and Ranch Dressing on a Brioche Bun. I may say this too much, but this is the perfect bite. All those flavors in one bite were amazing.

This burger was HUGE!! Lisa took a great picture with me next to the burger. Lisa, great picture! When you can please send it to me. Thanks. I ordered the sweet potato tots as a side. They were yummy and made me feel less guilty for eating this Big Ole Burger.

My favorite picture of all. The feast shot. I do enjoy good food, but I also enjoy great company. Thank you again Kelli for letting my family join your family. Special shout out to Scott, Rayni, and Danielle. Thanks for being awesome table mates.

@Eatlocalorlando, thanks for thinking of us for the invite. I owe ya big time my friend.

Located inside the Student Union at the University of Central Florida. It’s independently owned and operated by UCF Alumni and students.

The menu is very catchy. Had to take a picture of this one. Modern music in the background. I could listen to Top 10 hits all day.

The table set up is awesome and they have a game room inside. The other half has a bar where you can have a brew and watch the sports games.

This evening had lots of people at the bar so I only took a picture of the tv screens. Lyndsay was the first person to greet me as I sat down. I saw the lunch special and had to order it. It was the BBQ Bacon Quesadillas with French fries and a side of Ranch dressing.

Not the best lighting for pictures but great for having a meal and a drink. The food order came quickly. I love quick and friendly service.

BBQ, Bacon, and Cheese. You can’t ever go wrong with those flavors combined. Great place to come and have a bite. Wackadoo’s does a good job taking care of the array of customers who come in. Always busy. Not a dull moment at Wackadoo’s

While in Rome…. I figured I was in the area, so why not. I have heard so much about this place. Cupcake Wars winner. Two times. Had to give it a try. For me anything past 730pm is late. I arrived around 8:30pm.

There were lots of people sitting outside enjoying the great Orlando weather. Smaller group of people inside. They sell yogurt as well, but my main focus were the cupcakes.

According to Taylor, the lovely lady who helped me out, there were 28 flavors in total tonight. I asked for one of each as usual.

I had to take a picture of the yogurt toppings just to be sure I was being fair to anyone reading this blog.

The place is gorgeous. I had a hard time finding it. Molly was awesome when she answered the phone and directed me the right way. Yes, I do ask for directions when I’m lost. : )

Could not stay and eat them at Sweet. Brought them home. I ended up with the minis this time around. Drove as I quickly as I could to get home and try some with wifey.

Variety of flavors and colors. I got a sheet that describes the name and what’s inside of each cupcake. Very nice. My friend Megan had told me about this place and mentioned how good the cupcakes were.

The other 4 minis were given to me in a small box and @tarajroth and I tore those puppies up in a second. As a HUGE fan of cupcakes my only regret is not getting the regular size cupcakes as I tend to.

Wifey and Foodbidden THUMBS UP!! Great cupcakes. I can see why they won cupcake wars. No too sweet and loads of flavors to choose from.

Sunshine soul food café | Foodbidden

Sunshine soul food café

While driving around Orlando on this beautiful sunny day I was in the mood for some soul food.

Sunshine soul food café was just the spot. Located inside the Caribbean sunshine bakery. They have been here for 9 months now and the place looks great.

I was welcomed by a lovely young lady behind the counter, her name was Quantavia. I asked her what she recommended for lunch today she suggested the ribs, mac & cheese, and candy yams.

The smoothie bar is just the right touch in this place. All different flavors are offered.

Great little place to come and have a seat and enjoy a great meal. They also have items near the counter that you can grab and go.

Mashed potatoes, candy yams, collard greens, rice, etc.

Cornbread, Mac and cheese, corn, etc.

Fried chicken and the Friday only special…..BBQ Ribs.

I took Quantavia’s advice and got the special. BBQ Ribs, Mac and Cheese, and Candy Yams. It also comes with corn bread. The food was amazing, very yummy, delicious, absolutely perfect. Great food on a great day. I am sad I wasn’t able to hang out longer and see the locals come in and out. Fantastic place!

This is my second time here. I have not been disappointed yet. This is the place to be for true authentic soul food.

Quantavia, I truly appreciate your hospitality when I came in the restaurant. Your awesome customer service is truly appreciated. I will be back very soon.

Chef Eddie’s Restaurant | Foodbidden

Chef Eddie’s Restaurant

Finally made it to Chef Eddie’s!! It had been in the works for a few months now. Every time I had a chance something would come up. Today the stars were aligned and I have arrived.

I have been craving some good Chicken and Waffles. The menu has so many options of waffles. Apple Cinnamon, Big Berry Mix, etc. The list goes on. I picked the Banana Walnut Waffle and Chicken. Carol was my server for this morning and was the nicest lady in the world.

I arrived at 11:00am. People were already eating. I was expecting it to not be crowded at this time. This was the only picture I could get. All the other tables were busy. Chef Eddie’s opens early in the morning and has a load of breakfast specials daily. Carol says they open at 6:00am. I will have to remember that when I am in the area.

This was my seat. The perfect table for me. Food and ESPN! Chef Eddie’s is very nice. I pictured a BBQ place, but its more like a family diner. Locals come here to get their hearty breakfast and continue on their way. All the people eating here today decided to eat in and not many orders were to go. The variety on the menu surprised me. They have all types of items to choose from.

Fried Chicken and Banana Nut Waffle. I took about twenty pictures for this ONE shot. I wanted to capture all the goodies on the table. The Fried Chicken was amazing. Not greasy at all and the chicken just fell of the bone at every bite. YUM! Seasoned just right. The Banana Nut Waffle was perfect. Not too mushy and not dry at all. This combination was perfect.

The portions at Chef Eddies are huge. While looking at other people’s tables I could see that we ALL had our hands full with these plates.

Locate on John Young Parkway and few blocks North of I-4.

Carol, thank you so much for all your help today and your wonderful service. You are very sweet. Hope to see you soon.

Lido’s Italian Restaurant | Foodbidden

Lido’s Italian Restaurant

I always give credit where credit is due and this one is ALL @tarajroth. Thanks to the folks who recommended it to her. And HUGE thanks for wifey for taking pics and make this post happen. And most of all for picking up dinner tonight.

@Tarajroth had heard about this place a few months ago and today heard about it again from another person. Wifey decided she would go and be adventurous and check it out. (Yes, I am rubbing off on her) Love this woman. @Tarajroth was taking pictures like a BOSS!!

Very nice looking restaurant. Nicole who was the person helping @tarajroth out was very nice and super helpful. Nicole helped @tarajroth pick out the top three dishes to bring home. (We were ordering to eat at home)

The way they set the table is very nice. The restaurant is very clean and the decorations on the walls are gorgeous. The natural light coming into the restaurant makes this place glow.

It has a nice family Italian restaurant type feel to it. @Tarajroth said it smelled delicious when walking in. We will have to go back soon and dine in. I would love to get the feel of the clientele. Now, on to the FOOD stuff….
Now keep in mind we brought these home.

Antipasto. I have never been a fan. Lido’s has converted me. This was very good.

Garlic Bread Sticks. @Xobejm had two of them because she loved them so much. @tarajroth ate one on her drive home. (I knew there was one missing) YUM!!

Chicken Parmigiana with Pan Fried Spaghetti. Nicole recommended the pan fried part. Oh yeah. This was amazing. Great flavor. I have never had pan fried spaghetti. This is a must have!!

Lasagna. While the pictures DO NOT do it justice, this was a delicious dish. I thought about putting it on a plate and taking a better picture, but I ended up eating it. : )

Manicotti. These puppies were filled with cheesy goodness. This is what Manicotti should taste like all the time. Nicole really did pick the top three dishes. I am dying to try all the other dishes they have.

A taste of everything. Yum!! @Tarajroth truly hooked it up this evening. Thank you so much wifey. @Xobejm and I were very happy with dinner tonight.

Everything was great from Lido’s Italian Restaurant. This has to be twenty times better fresh out of the oven. We will have to visit soon and dine in.

Sister Honey’s

Monday to Saturday from 11am to 6pm the place to be is…..

It’s been in the Orlando area for about six months now. Thank you so much to Lisa Wilks for telling me about this place.

After a great lunch with the Lunch Bunch ladies. I was craving some cupcakes (as always). Lisa told me about this place. It is located on Orange Avenue and Michigan.

It’s a very nice little place. The gentleman helping me today was very helpful and let me know they only had two kinds of flavors of cupcakes today. No red velvet and no coconut. : (

I ordered the Double Chocolate Cupcake and the Very Vanilla Cupcake.

Delicious. Lisa did forewarn me to get extra Double Chocolate Cupcakes because I would love them. So, I got six and one to eat right now.

They were both very good. Love the taste and the cupcake texture is perfect. Not dry at all.

While I was here I got a slice of pie as well.

The Raspberry Cheese Pie. Oh Yeah!!

Their other yumminess is the Hummingbird Cake. It’s a banana cake with cream cheese, cinnamon, and nuts. This was my favorite!!

Singh’s Roti Shop

What a great day for eating. Excellent lunch with @eatlocalorlando and @TastyChomps. Great people to eat with. I had been here once before and ordered the Roti. Today I was going to try something different.

There isn’t anything to say. Just read @TastyChomps blog and it will tell ya everything ya need to know. Tastychomps.com. He breaks down the dishes and the restaurant. Check him out.

I will share with you my pics from our lunch today. These are all the offerings for today. Oxtail, Beef, Duck, etc. They also have a Chinese buffet line.

The bar area is nice. I am sure this place gets busy at night. Great music playing and music videos to watch while eating.

The place smelled Pine Sol clean today. Well maintained. Enough of the boring info. Lets get to the FOOD stuff!!

4 doubles. We asked them to mix them up. Chick peas, beef, shrimp, etc.

@TastyChomps ordered the Stew Chicken platter with Fried Rice. The chicken was delicious.

I ordered the duck platter with pigeon peas and rice. Even with the bones this was delicious. Just the right kick.

@Eatlocalorlando ordered the Beef platter with pigeon peas and rice. Great taste and it did have some spice to it. We were given a little extra spice in small containers. Very tasty.

I love these shots. It brings me joy to share food and try a little bit of everything with friends.

Thank you so much to @eatlocalorlando and @TastyChomps for hanging out with me today for lunch. Y’all rock! Until we “EAT” again.

Hot Krust Panini Kitchen | Foodbidden

Hot Krust Panini Kitchen

Big thanks goes out to @TravelerFoodie who suggested this place to me. He invited me to a social media event here and I was unable to go. But today would be the day!! After seeing all the pics he posted I was on a mission to be here as soon as I could.

After hearing about @TravelerFoodie’s adventure here I started following Hot Krust on Twitter. (@hotkrust) They have just announced the Burgernini. They obviously had me at the word burger.

I had wanted to go since last week and now finally here I am. Great place. Very clean. Jana and Evan were the ones working today and they were taking care of business. Not only taking the orders, but bringing them to each customers table as well.

The team makes sure as soon as a customer leaves to clean up and be ready for the next guest to be seated. I had just missed the lunch rush. Lots of people here when I walked in. Most of the regulars come in to pick up their orders and head out.
Ok……let’s get on with the FOOD stuff!!

New Burgernini. “8oz of 100 percent Angus meat stuffed with potato waffles, with special BBQ. Not frozen, No preservatives, No additives”. When Evan brought it over to me I laughed. This burger is huge. As Evan says, “The Cadillac of burgers. Not many places can compare with the quality of this burger”. I would say he is right. I took one bite and I was hooked.

Made with 100 percent Yumminess. (Yes that is the word). All the fresh ingredients are tasted in every bite.

The burger was cooked perfectly and the BBQ sauce made it even better. I truly enjoyed the sauce.

New Alibaba Veggie. Hummus, fresh mozzarella, red onions, lettuce, and tomatoes. I think that pretty much says it all. As I always say, “The perfect bite.”

Evan suggested this one with whole grain bread. I just had him choose what bread would be best for each sandwich.

I think at first glance you think, “this is just some normal sandwich shop!” Well, it’s not. They pride themselves in not using additives, preservatives, and no nitrates. Everything is made to order. Come on in and have a seat and enjoy the Hot Krust Panini Kitchen experience. I guarantee you will love it!

Thai Thani | Foodbidden

Thai Thani

Today @tarajroth and I were off from work on the same day. I was craving some food with some flavor so we went with Thai.

Lots of people here for lunch today. Was not able to capture how big it is. Lots of decorations all over the restaurant. Seems like a popular place for the locals here. Lots of people dressed nicely. Assuming offices around this area and they come here for lunch.

The place is huge. Actually, before we walked in we were greeted outside by a young lady. There are three restaurants owned by the same person. If you sit in the Atlantic Cove area you can order from all three restaurants since they are all next to each other. Wow. I have never seen or heard of that before.

Thai Iced Tea. This is a must in any Thai restaurant.

Pot Stickers. There were six in the order, but @tarajroth was really hungry and picked one up and ate it. : )

Chicken Satay. The bread slices are interesting. I am sure all of you know the reason for that. I do not know.

Chicken Phad Panang (Spicy) A spicy Thai curry dish prepared with coconut and peanut sauce string beans, bell peppers, scallion and basil leaves. It was a bit on the sweet side. I have ordered this before in other places and it hasn’t been this sweet.

Fried Rice. (Spicy) Pork with rice, egg, and scallions. @Tarajroth ordered this spicy. The dish was not spicy at all so she got the extra spice sauces on the side.

The Feast shots. They will always make me happy.

@Tarajroth had to take a Feast shot too. Nice. Wifey got @kokocooks photo skills.

Overall this place was okay. It wasn’t my favorite. I would give it a one thumb up. Nice ambience in the restaurant. Although, the music in the background was going to put @tarajroth and I to sleep. Sounded like lullaby music. The kind you set up for a crib mobile. The service was mediocre. They were all too busy and I never did get my second Thai iced tea.

Yummies Desserts

While driving back home we came upon this lovely place.

Yummies Desserts has been here in Orlando for three years now. They are located on Orange Blossom Trail and Whisper Lakes Blvd.

The bakery is nice. Candles are lit on the tables. Very nice touch.

While speaking to Rosa, the young lady who helped us out, she mentioned that they have some lunch specials as well and on Saturdays. This is a Brazilian bakery. Rosa did ask why I was taking pics, so I explained and it calmed her down a bit.

I ordered the Walnut Cake with Dulce De Leche. One word, AMAZING! Very good tasting cake. Rosa, said they also have a Brazilian cake that is made from Chocolate and Caramel. Wifey and I were full from lunch, so we promised we would come back on another day to taste it.

@tarajroth took this shot. I love it. She is better at taking pictures than I am. Which doesn’t say much cuz my pics are lousy. : )

Wonderful place. Great Walnut cake. It was kind of romantic to sit down and eat dessert by candlelight.

Cafe Gauguin

This morning was a rushed start kind of morning. @Xobejm had to be picked up by @vleboss and I had to run out for work. But first, breakfast. Located inside the Rosen Centre Hotel.

While searching on Urbanspoon Cafe Gauguin popped up. One review was good and the other bad. Ramon the manager sat down with me and said they have a great brunch and dinner as well. I let him know I am not a buffet guy, but these options were great.

You have a choice of ordering from the menu or from the buffet. My server Laurielle greeted me and offered me coffee. Yes indeed!

With all these options I went with the buffet. Now, don’t get me wrong, this was an expensive breakfast. Breakfast buffet starts at 16.95. Which I was okay with this morning because of the amount of choices.

I went simple today. Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, and a croissant. Truly a breakfast of champions. I enjoyed tasting one of each item. They had so much more to offer, but I went simple today.

Fruits, waffles, toast, etc. Included in the buffet was the make our own omelette station. Yum. I just couldn’t do it today. Next time for sure.

Las Palmas

Right in front of Gatorland. This Colombian restaurant is taken for granted in Orlando. Great portions and only okay customer service. That could use improvement, but the food is outstanding.

Very small place with lots of food. Most of the time the parking lot looks like this. Yet, the locals know they have to come here for some good home cooking.

This morning there were about 4 families having lunch. Plates come out of the kitchen sizzling. YUM. Nice looking bar area. I wonder if it gets busy at night here. I gotta check it out.

Nice place. Very clean and the ladies are hard at work serving the customers. Lot of diversity within the restaurant. All kinds of ethnicities in here today.

Tipico Montanero. (Medellin typical food) Rice, beans, pork strips, steak, sweet plantains, egg, and corn cake. This definitely rivals the Bandeja Paisa. Great Colombian dish. Very filling.

Come for the food. It’s great. Nice ambiance overall. Service so so. Plenty of parking. Check it out if ever in this area.

Q’Kenan Venezuelan Restaurant

Today was a sunny day and I could not get the sign outside of the building. Best pic I could get was this one. @Eatlocalorlando has suggested this place for a long time and I finally made it.

Nice place. Super friendly group of folks. The woman helping me today was Andrea. She wanted to take time and explain the menu. I opened it up and went straight to the Andino breakfast. They also have lunch specials from 11am to 3pm. The Venezuelan typical dishes.

Andino breakfast.
Scrambled eggs with onions and tomatoes. Black beans and grated cheese. AMAZING. This was made so well. Perfect taste. Even the black beans were perfect and not too overly seasoned.

Arepa with butter. Nice and thick in texture and very filling. Most Arepas tend to be empty in the middle. These were filled to the gills.

Cafe con leche. Nicely made. This hit the spot since I had a big headache. This cafecito took all the pain away.

Chai Thai Cuisine

Heard great things about this place and it has only been open for two months. @tarajroth and I had to make a quick run for lunch and try it for ourselves.

Gorgeous. The decor is top notch. The pictures on the wall represent the beautiful scenery of Thailand.

Great taste in putting the restaurant together. Every team member here is extremely nice. They did forewarn us about their Thai Hot. I didn’t want to do it today, so I went with Hot only.

Great start to the meal. The spring rolls were made perfectly and the salad was amazing. The house dressing was nice and smooth and not overpowering.

Always have to get the Thai Iced Tea. These are always good. Chai Thai does not disappoint with their Iced Tea.

Crispy Duck in Red Curry Sauce. (HOT). Wow. They truly to make it hot. One of the staff noticed my face turning red and my nose running. I told them I loved it!!

Pork in Yellow Curry. (HOT) @Tarajroth also was shocked with the amount of spice in this dish. She was a trooper though. That’s why I love her. We took the rest to go. We will use that curry sauce on other foods at home.

Overall very well worth every penny. They have lunch specials from 11am to 3pm starting at $7.95. So nice to finally have a Thai restaurant in this area. It was much needed.

To the Chai Thai Team, thank you so much did being such gracious host. Your friendliness alone is so appreciated. Great food and we cannot wait to be back. Until we “Eat” again.

I believe that everything in this world is a partnership and everyone and anyone can and should contribute in any way that they can. In this case, this was all @tarajroth and @xobejm.

They took the pictures and ate the food and gave me their reactions and what they thought. Thank you so much girls for your contribution. Most importantly, we get to spread the word out about the amazing local businesses.

As everyone knows, having an outlet where you are seated is a BIG PLUS! You can eat and “juice” up your device while you are there.

Beth’s Burger Bar

Tonight @tarajroth and I had plans to join the first Dishcrawl in Orlando. What a great event. One flat fee and you visit four restaurants. The name of the restaurants are kept as a surprise until the evening of the event.

Tonight we started at Beth’s Burger Bar. Great looking place that just opened December 26. We got to meet Beth in person and hear her story and her passion for burgers.

The place is stylish. Smells great as soon as you walk in. Tonight we had a total of about 20 people or more so Beth’s was hoppin’ tonight. Dishcrawl concept is getting a pre made dish of the restaurants choice.

Pineapple jalapeño and pepper jack cheese burger. The spicyness was what made me love this burger in an instant.

Peanut Butter, cheddar, and onion burger. I would have never in a million years thought about a peanut butter burger. This was delicious.

They served half of each burger and it came with a side of fries.

The team was awesome. Very friendly when we walked in. The staff didn’t know initially that @tarajroth and I were part of the group and they treated us very well.

Beth’s Burger Bar team, Y’ALL ROCK! Great place. Best of luck with your business. Great area to be in. Wifey and I will be back.

This was another one of our restaurants in the Dishcrawl event. This was my first time here and I have heard many good things about it.

The place was gorgeous and tonight was very packed. And that’s not including our group. Once again it’s a pre set menu, so we ended up sitting down and getting our goodies brought to us.

Fried Cheese Wonton, Sushi, and not sure the name of the chicken but it was great. The chicken had this great spice to it.

The presentation was very nice. There were 20 of us in total eating and they kept on offering us more chicken and sushi. Very nice.

(Thank you so much to @lglastorl for sharing her pic with me)

This was another restaurant in our Dishcrawl adventure. I have never even heard of this place before.

The place was super busy because of the Magic and Lakers game tonight. Very loud inside.

It was nice to get the VIP treatment as a Dishcrawler and head straight up to the second floor to our reserved seating area.

Our second floor view was awesome. People drinking and eating away tonight just celebrating life. Now, lets get to the FOOD stuff,

Buffalo chicken mac & cheese, Buffalo chicken egg rolls, roasted red pepper hummus. Oh Yeah!! what a great combo. The Chef came out to talk to us and welcomed us to the restaurant.
Everything was fantastic. The surprise for me was how good the Hummus tasted. It has a creamy blend of chickpeas, roasted red peppers, fresh herbs, and olive oil. They also make it gluten-free.

The young lady serving us tonight actually had asked when the next Dishcrawl event was, so she could join in for the next time.

Also, @tarajroth made me laugh by calling the restaurant the Furry Buffalo. Thank you so much my love for always making me laugh.

@Tarajroth and I were having a blast sharing conversations with all types of people and eating great food. @My_Shey was there as well and brought @bigpshey with her. We had a blast with you two. Thanks for hanging out with us.

Pepperoni, cheese and tomato, and white cheese flatbread with red pepper. All simply delicious. They were made so well And even though wifey and I were extremely full we were only able to enjoy a few bites. Actually, who am I kidding. Wifey didn’t eat hers and ate ALL of mine. : )

I love that wifey knows what kind of pics I like for the blog. Located where the Walmart is on Sand Lake and John Young Parkway. Inside that same plaza.

Buffet style is just my type. Wifey says there is a menu, but the locals come here for the buffet and the various selections. Not many people come and sit down and eat. They get the food and take it to go.

Ropa Vieja (Shredded Beef) corn and rice. The lunch is magnificent. That is also all they have. Their operating hours are very limited. They open for lunch and close at 3pm and according to @urbanspoon they are closed on the weekends.

I had to show this picture with the Guarana drink. @Tarajroth you truly hit the nail on the head with this shot.

La Herradura Mexican Restaurant

Mexican restaurant with some class. Great looking interior. Used to be Martin’s BBQ on the the corner of John Young Parkway and Deerfield. Now it has been redesigned and has had a facelift. Welcome La Herradura to Orlando. It’s been open for three weeks now.

Love the decor. Staff is beyond friendly. As soon as I was approaching the entrance the staff opened the door for me as welcomed me to the restaurant.

Some locals were here already enjoying the lunch specials and the mid afternoon margaritas.

Plenty of room on the inside but even more seating outside. Today was chilly so I chose to sit indoors. I would love to see this place at night full of people enjoying the food and the ambience.

Chips and salsa are always the perfect start to a good meal. Millena was my server today and she was so pleasant. Great service is a must for me.

Number 4 Lunch combo. One grilled cheese steak and one grilled cheese chicken taco with rice, beans, and salad.

Number 4 Lunch Combo. Everything was delicious. The chicken and the steak were very well made. La Herradura should and will be doing big things in this location. BUEN PROVECHO!!

Millena, Gracias por tu servicio y tu sonrisa tan linda. La comida estuvo deliciosa. Voy a regresar con mi familia muy pronto.

Taka Taka’s Cafe | Foodbidden

Taka Taka’s Cafe

First of all thanks to the UYE Lunch Bunch for hosting such a wonderful event and having great people come together and eat some amazing food. @OrlandoFamStyle always knows how to host a great party.

Venezuelan restaurant on Colonial and Econlockhatchee. Inside the Tower Square plaza. Very easy to miss. I drive down this road often and had never seen this place until now.

Today was Yadira’s birthday. Our server. She was awesome in taking all our orders. Today it was @tarajroth @xobejm @eatlocalorlando @Ann_archy @OrlandoFamStyle Brian, and Mena.

I started off with a Cafe Con Leche. Yadira hooked this puppy up. Smooth taste and had me hyper the rest of the day. Two thumbs up.

We were given the sauces to try on every dish. Garlic, chimichurri, spicy sauce, and the famous green sauce. Who knows what’s inside but it’s fantastic. We all loved the green sauce.

La Gloteneria Del Chef. Ham, cheese, sausage, cheese, arepa, French fries, steak, and chicken. WOW. This was huge. It’s supposed to serve two but we shared it with the group cuz it was way too much.

El Pabellon. Shredded beef, black beans, rice, and plantains. This was @OrlandoFamStyle and Brian’s dish. The beef was so good.

Cachapas. Sweet corn cake with cheese. @Eatlocalorlando loves these so we shared these as well. Nice sweet and savory taste.

My infamous Feast Shot. As I always say, it brings me joy to sit down and eat good food surrounded by amazing people.

Brazo Gitano. Yadira explained it as a sort of Caramel within the cake.

Brazo Gitano. I had never had this before. This was good. Not my favorite but not bad.

Yadira, Feliz Cumpleaños y Gracias por todo. Nos encanto la comida. Vamos a regresar muy pronto.

Mediterranean Blue | Foodbidden

Mediterranean Blue

Big Mega Super Shout out to @OrlandoFamStyle for suggesting this place to me. You are a Genius!!
After speaking with Gail the owner and laughing about her Med Blue story I had to go ahead and share it.
Gail says that people were getting confused since they are right next to an insurance company. Customers thought Med Blue was an insurance company as well. I couldn’t help but laugh out loud. Med Blue, makes perfect sense.

Well, I was pleasantly surprised and grateful that it was not an insurance company but a Greek restaurant. Located on Michigan Street a few blocks west of Orange Avenue.

I was able to take a picture while leaving because when I arrived it was super full. Locals come and literally hang out. Getting Gyros, Greek fries, and Baklava, etc. Oh wait…that’s what I had. People are able to sit outside in the patio area and enjoy the beautiful Florida weather. Now, on to the FOOD STUFF.

Gyro. Sliced beef and lamb seasoned and roasted served on grilled pita with onion, tomato, and their house made tzatziki. Fantastic. Good to the last bite. I had a big breakfast and didn’t think I would be able to eat the whole thing and trust me…I did.

Greek Fries. Seasoned to perfection. I had the whole bag. That’s how good these were. Wanted to ask how they were made but I am sure they would have said ancient family secret.

Mini Baklava. Had to end it with the perfect dessert. I really liked the mini bites and how they come cut in four pieces. Easy to share and also very easy to bring home. I was supposed to bring these home, but I ate them on the way there.

Gail, thank you so much for taking time while you were busy to talk to me for a bit. The passion in your voice inspires me. Happy third Mediversary! As I mentioned to you, Great food is important, but Great customer service cannot be beat. Thank you for both!

Phil’s Grill | Foodbidden

Phil’s Grill

This is a place that is truly hidden and away from civilization. Yet it serves a delicious breakfast.

Their sign says it all. Phil is legally blind and is the man behind the scenes making the magic happen. The cashier rings you up and the order is out in minutes. Department of Blind Services has the contract for the government buildings, so Phil put in a bid and won this one. They have been here for a year.

Everything bagel, egg, cheese, sausage, and potatoes. Breakfast special. This was the special for today. The bagel was delicious. I had never had an everything bagel before. The potatoes were made perfectly.

Plain bagel, egg, cheese, bacon, and potatoes. This was Kelly’s dish for this morning. She was going for a patty melt, but Phil only makes them for lunch, so Kelly got the breakfast special as well.

Overall great place. Breakfast was awesome. I need to come back and try their lunch specials.

Yalaha Bakery (Orlando)

Nice little place in Orlando. Ivanhoe Village is lucky to have this awesome little bakery in town. All the goodies are brought in from the actual Yalaha bakery in Yalaha Florida.

Believe it or not all these people here today were talking about not knowing about this place and how they happened to find it by accident.

I had to chime in and tell them that I was in the same boat. I never heard of it until today. They have been here for a year and a half. Now, on to the SWEET STUFF!

Fruit Slice Raspberry. Cindy was the one helping me out today and I got her to tell me one of her recommendations.

Almond Horn. This was Cindy’s suggestion. Great tasting treat. She said if I liked marzipan that I would love this one. She was right.

Overall, nice little place to be for a nice hot latte and a sweet treat. Ask for Cindy she will steer ya in the right direction.

Chai Thai Cuisine Orlando | Foodbidden

Chai Thai Cuisine Orlando

(Shot of the back entrance to Chai Thai. They heavily suggest you use the front door when entering)
This adventure started thanks to Manny. We always talk about food places at work and he mentioned Thai food. So we decided to meet up for lunch at Chai Thai. They have a Chai Thai in Hunters Creek as well, but I had to try this one.

Salad and spring roll. Included with the lunch special today.
It’s located on Orange avenue just a half a block north of Michigan. Very hard to find while on Orange. It’s in between Starbucks and Planet Smoothie.

Pad Kee Mao. One review said to try this so I did. I didn’t want to go with the usual Pad Thai. Wanted something different and tasty and this was just the dish I needed. It was fantastic.

Panang Beef. Manny got this dish and it smelled great. He went with medium this time around. He usually gets Thai hot.

Ginger Chicken with white rice. Ashely ordered this one. Again, it smelled great. I never get around to asking them for a bite because I was enjoying mine so much.

Feast shot. My favorite shot to take all the time. Hanging out with great people and having great food. That’s what it’s all about.

Sticky Rice with Mango. Manny orders this every time he comes here. It’s his favorite thing to get. AMAZING. This one I did get a bite of and it’s perfect. The rice is hot and the mango is cold. The perfect bite when you combine them together.

I arrived around 12:30pm and parking was a nightmare. Around 1:30pm the parking lot was empty. I am sure the lunch rush made the parking area a mess. The restaurant was not very busy. Which surprises me because the food was great.

Boiling Crab and Seafood

Today was our UYE event and the spot was in Orlando. @OrlandoFamStyle @orlandouncorked, James, and myself were here today. Located on Colonial and Mills area. Parking is a hassle and once you have parked you only have two hours. I was lucky to arrive early and parked in the back parking lot which is always super full.

Saw some reviews and it suggested many things from the menu. I went with the Fried Catfish and the French Iced Coffee. Honestly we just didn’t want to get messy with the crawfish and what not.

French Iced Coffee. WOW!! Very strong and the condensed milk hits the spot. Maybe not the best pairing with catfish, but yummy nonetheless.

Nice place overall. Everything is very clean. Even the restrooms were well maintained. Also, Free Wifi is a big plus in any restaurant.

Onion rings. James ordered these today and he said they were delicious. I didn’t get around to trying them since I was so focused on my dish.

Fried Catfish basket with french fries and bread roll. I loved dipping the catfish in the tartar sauce. The fish was well made. Not soggy and just the perfect crunch.

Feast shot. You know I have to add this shot whenever I can. All of us partaking in some good grub.

Nice place on Colonial. May bring some of the familia here if we are ever in the area. Check it out for yourself. It has some great food and customer service is amazing.

Gigi’s Cupcakes | Foodbidden

Gigi’s Cupcakes

Located in the Colonial Plaza in Orlando on Colonial and Bumby. Gigi’s has been passing out cupcake smiles in several, and I do mean several locations around the country. @OrlandoFamStyle had told me about this place and I had to check it out with her. I didn’t realize how many locations they had. I am glad they set one up in Orlando.

As you can see word has gotten out that Gigi’s is here and the locals are coming out to taste all that Gigi has to offer. They have the daily cupcake menu. Every single staff person in this place is amazingly pleasant. They truly are genuinely nice.

The array of cupcakes are put on display for all of us to drool over, hence the glass. There so many flavors to choose from. It is hard to know where to begin.

I ordered the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough cupcake for here. @OrlandoFamStyle got the same one. We had to try it while sitting in Gigi’s. It is an awesome place to come in and see the locals get their sweets and be on their way. Some choose to order and sit down for a bit. Very family friendly as well. They also have shirts and mugs that they sell in the store with their logo on it.

Starting from the top left: Miss Princess, Scarlett’s Red Velvet, Wedding Cake, Turtle cheesecake, Double Stuff, Peanut Butter. I took these lovelies to go. The woman who helped me out today was very nice and fixed the cupcakes for me so I could take a good picture. So nice.

They gave me a pink bag and this awesome box that the cupcakes are put in.

Warning labels are important when carrying precious cupcakes. The whole experience made me smile. Imagine the face on my daughters face when she saw me walk in with the pink bag. Her eyes opened up wide. : )

Charcoal Zyka | Foodbidden

Charcoal Zyka

Formerly known as Charcoal Joes, Zyka has come in and made this place twice as good. The menu selection has doubled and the Indian dishes are made just right.

Small place, but there is still plenty of room. Located on John Young Parkway and Taft Vineland. This place does not play when it comes to spices. As soon as I walked in the aroma engulfed me. YUM.

They were quick to greet me and the chef is making the magic happen all by himself. Two servers and one chef. The official name is “Charcoal Zyka Grill and More. Home of the Portuguese Style Grilled Chicken and Beef Ribs”. I think that says it all. NOW LET’S EAT!!

Vegetable Samosas. I love when they come out nice and hot. The first bite is nice and crispy and all the seasoning and spices takes over your palate.

You can tell from the pic but it was steaming. It was amazing with the sauces (tamarind and mint) love double dipping to get extra flavor.

Chicken Korma was a must for today. And yes I ordered it spicy.

It comes with white rice. Every bite was a dream come true. The spicyness was just right for me. And I do love it spicy. This is the place to be for a variety of options for lunch and dinner.

The Bistro

What a great way to start the morning. The Bistro is located inside the Hilton Orlando. Very fancy place, yet relaxed at the same time. Don’t get me wrong. This place is pricey, but the food is well worth it.

Gorgeous place. Lot of natural light. Not many people know about this place. It is on a lower level. They have upbeat music playing. I found myself eating and tapping my feet to the beat.

The seating at the bar for breakfast is excellent. It’s for people who are here on business and come in, and eat, and go on their merry way. Paula was my server today. She was very nice. Now….Let’s talk FOOD!!

Scrambled eggs, Serrano ham, Manchego cheese, fresh avocado, pico de gallo, roasted potatoes. $13.00. This week anything with avocado has been hitting the spot. This wrap is out of this world with all the goodies inside. Even the breakfast potatoes were good. I tend to leave those untouched.

They have a buffet that starts at $24.00. Yep, that much. Typical hotel prices. Again, don’t let the price scare you. It is all very good. And the customer service is amazing. The whole team this morning was working hard and had smiles on their faces.

Paula, Gracias for an amazing breakfast experience. Nice meeting you and hope to see you again. Always nice to meet someone who has lived in Chicago.

The Dessert Lady

After a great lunch with @lovenconfection I went to dessert with @kokocooks. This was her idea to meet here and I am glad I accepted the invite. I had seen that @mismamari and @lglastorl talked about this place often. Sweets are my weakness, so I had to come and check them out.

The inside is gorgeous. The pink truly makes this place pop. @xobejm would love this. They used to be located in downtown Orlando and are now in the Dr. Phillips area since December. This place is truly what the “Dr.” ordered.

This is were @kokocooks and I sat. @DessertLadyFL sat with us for a bit and told us about the cakes she has. You could see the passion in her eyes while she explained all the yumminess that she has created. @Kokocooks and I wanted to try a bit of everything and @DessertLadyFL was happy to oblige.

To make it easier I copied and pasted the info from her menu so you can see what each cake contains in detail. Here we go!!!

Tiramisu Torte. (Top right)
Our spin on an Italian favorite. Chocolate chip cookies instead of ladyfingers.

Chocolate Zuccotto. (Top left)
An architectural wonder. Amaretto soaked dome cake filled with dark chocolate mousse and white chocolate mousse. Iced with ganache.

6 Layer Chocolate Cake. Count them, each deep chocolate layer placed upon the most luxurious triple chocolate mousse and coated with chocolate ganache.

Carrot Cake. (Top left) A moist 3-layer cake infused with cinnamon and real bits of carrot that’s topped with the most seductive cream cheese icing, which easily makes it my best seller.

Coconut Brûlée Cheesecake. (Top right) Creamy coconut cheesecake on an amazing macadamia nut crust. Be sure to ask for our own warm toasted coconut and caramel topping.

Sour Cream Apple Cobbler. Granny Smith apples baked in a sweet sour cream custard and topped with a pecan streusel topping.

Cannoli Cake. (Bottom right) Moist white cake sprinkled with rum glaze, filled with a thick layer of cannoli cream and iced with espresso cream cheese frosting.

Key Lime Cake. (Top Middle) Three layers of white cake soaked with special rum glaze, filled with key lime custard and iced with cream cheese frosting.

Secret Stash. Our seasonal cakes, cheesecakes, pies and who knows what else we might create.
Today was a Strawberry “not so short” cake.

Cake Bites. And of course I ended the party with a Cake Bite platter to go. Assorted flavors of cakes in petit four form.

@DessertLadyFL, thank you so much for your hospitality. We loved every single one of your cakes. ALL of them were my favorite. Nice chatting and getting to know more about you.

Giraffas Brazilian Steaks and Burgers | Foodbidden

Giraffas Brazilian Steaks and Burgers

Wow!! What a place. Big props to @TastyChomps for posting info about Giraffas. The opening day was yesterday in Orlando on International Drive. The Giraffas team is there to greet you as soon as you walk in. Lots of friendly faces.

The place is beautiful. The colors and the decor look amazing. The place is immaculate. I love coming to a place that has just opened their doors to customers. Excitement is in the air.

The sunshine was making Giraffas glow today. The weather was perfect and the customers were coming in hungry. Especially me.

Pao De Queijo. I checked in using Yelp and I got this appetizer for free. Thanks @yelp. Great way to start my meal. One of the team members suggested I try the chicken burger. I am a steak sort of person, so I had both the chicken and the steak. Now, lets talk FOOD!!

Brutus. 5oz burger, cheese, egg, bacon, ham, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. AMAZING! Every single bite was fantastic. It is layered in a certain way where you taste every ingredient and topping in and on the burger.

Special Sauce. I was told they couldn’t tell me what it was. If they told me they would have to kill me. The staff had a great sense of humor. Loved it!! It went great with the burgers and the fries.

Galo De Briga. Chicken filet on a bun, cheese, egg, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. DELICIOUS! the chicken was a nice touch to this burger. I tend not to order the chicken, so I am glad it was suggested from the Giraffas team.

Brutus and Galo de Briga waiting the be eaten by me. Huge portions. Great taste and not less filling. This meal will require you to loosen up your belt buckle.

Petit Gâteau. Warm, chocolate flavor filled cake with a choice of coconut ice cream. This was another suggestion from the Giraffas team. I never do ice cream in any place, but with this ice cream you could taste the pieces of coconut inside the ice cream. EXCELLENT!!

Giraffas team, thank you so much for a job “well-done”. Keep up the smiling faces and welcoming customers at the door with excitement.

Saffron Indian Cuisine

What a great way to start the day. As I always say, “Great eats, Great peeps.” Lunch Bunch get togethers are my favorite. Getting to eat with people you love hanging out with is a true blessing.

Today was Saffron Indian Cuisine day and we were excited and ready to eat. The gang came in with empty bellies and we were seated instantly. @Tarajroth @OrlandoFamStyle @orlandouncorked @wholycheesus @kokocooks @eatlocalorlando, Max and yours truly were all in attendance.

Mango Lassi. Best way to start. My all time favorite drink. I do prefer it on the much colder side. This one was warm, but still tasty.

Papadum and Naan. Were the talk of the table. The Papadum with the black pepper on it and the Naan was excellent. Now….. Let’s talk FOOD!!!

Chicken Korma, Samosa, Rice, and other goodies. @Tarajroth ordered this one and got it medium. I had a bite and it was very good. This is @tarajroth’s go to dish.

Chicken Vindaloo, Samosa, Rice, and other goodies. This was my dish and I ordered it spicy. Great taste. I love the chicken with the potatoes together. It’s my go to dish.

Chicken Tikka Roll with French Fries and Raita. This one was the best tasting item I ate. Filled with veggies and great tasting spices on the inside. I shared the other half with @wholycheesus and he enjoyed it as well.

Feast Shot. As you know my favorite picture to take. The whole Foodie Familia eating and sharing. Does my heart good.

Thanks to the UYE crew for hosting this event. @OrlandoFamStyle you are amazing as always.

Sapporo Ramen | Foodbidden

Sapporo Ramen

Today was a perfect Saturday. @Droolius had recommended this place on his blog Droolius.com. And I had asked @droolius and @kokocooks if we could all eat there together today. It is easy to miss using GPS. It is located in the Westside Crossing Plaza. Chinatown.

The restaurant is small, but fits many people as we found out today. When we arrived it was slow. But then about an hour later it became super busy.

You know I had to take a picture of all the people coming in to eat. According to @droolius this place just opened on May 9. Seems word has gotten out. There were some people there eating that follow @droolius and had decided to eat here because of his blog post. Maybe everyone else follows @droolius as well.

Gyoza. Courtesy of @kokocooks. She ordered these for the table. You can’t ever go wrong with dumplings.

Takoyaki. Fried Octopus Fritter. These were perfect. Not any strange taste or texture to it. Nice and tasty.

Pork Katsu Curry. Courtesy of @droolius. He shared this one with the table and it was @xobejm’s favorite dish. @Droolius later poured the curry on the rice and @xobejm couldn’t get enough of it.

Gyu Don
Beef and Onion with oriental style sauce. This was courtesy of @xobejm. She shared this one with the table. Those thin slices of beef were heavenly. This dish didn’t last long at all. I finished up the onions and rice. Amazing.

Shoyu Ramen. Soy based broth. This was @kokocooks dish.

Shio Ramen. The soup is simply seasoned with salt. Butter flavored corn adds great taste to it. This was @droolius dish.

Miso Ramen. This one I got to taste and it had a peanut butter taste to it. This was @backyard_garage dish. (Photo courtesy of @droolius)

Tonkotsu Ramen
Served with green onion, bamboo shoots, pork cha-su, narutomaki. This was my dish. Fantastic. This now my second time getting Ramen and it truly is the way to go. Great taste and very good portions.

Sapporo does not disappoint when it comes to flavor and the prices are spectacular. In the words of @droolius, you know you are in an authentic place when Japanese people come to a Japanese restaurant. I highly recommend trying Sapporo Ramen.

Many Big Mega Thanks and Gracias to @kokocooks @droolius @tarajroth @xobejm @tytyeats and @backyard_garage and Jason for hanging out and making the lunch extra awesome. Eat on my friends, Eat on!!

Ciao Italia Ristorante Italiano | Foodbidden

Ciao Italia Ristorante Italiano

Tonight was a date night for wifey and I. I had read about Ciao and had been wanting to try this place for about two weeks now. Chef Vincenzo is in the back cooking up some great Italian dishes.

A 2nd generation run business for the Navarras family. They have been here since 1991. I love when the business stays in the family. While entering you hear the classical Italian music playing. The ambience is romantic, which was perfect for @tarajroth and I.

I started my dinner with a Cappuccino. Just the way I like it. Bruno was the one serving us tonight. A perfect gentleman every time he spoke.

Bruschetta. Toasted Crostini topped with a blend of Tomatoes, Garlic, Onions and Basil in E.V.O.O.
@Tarajroth wanted this appetizer and it looked great. We took a few bites and it was good. we had to bring two of them to go. They were rather filling.

Rigatoni Con Salsiccia E Rapini.
Rigatoni pasta, house sausage, broccoli rabe in garlic-Pinot Grigio reduction.
Nice. Flavorful. The Parmesan cheese on top made it even yummier. The sausage was my favorite part of this dish.

(Photo courtesy of @tarajroth) Maybe I should have her take all my pics.

Veal Alla Parmigiana with Spaghetti Marinara.
@Tarajroth ordered this one. She liked the veal, but was not a fan of the pasta. She said the flavors were too light. She would have liked more garlic to give it some more kick.

Chocolate Fonduta Torta
Sponge cake filled with rich chocolate fondant, covered with chocolate flakes.
@Tarajroth liked it at first. She then took a bite of the back of the cake and sensed that it had been kept for a while. I had a bite and I thought it was good. I couldn’t tell if it was fresh or not.

Tiramisu. Lady fingers soaked in espresso coffee layered with marscapone cheese dusted with cocoa powder.
I liked it. Wifey had some and she like my dessert better than hers. I always say, you can’t go wrong with a classic dessert. Very good.

Overall, very nice place. I was very happy with how nice it is on the inside. The food was good, but not great. I would go definitely go again to try other dishes. Great service. Ask for Bruno.

Hash House A Go Go | Foodbidden

Hash House A Go Go

Our Memorial Day started with a quick breakfast place in Orlando. Hash House has just opened a few months ago in Orlando. Located on International Drive just east of Kirkman.

The restaurant is huge. Lots of space. We were the first ones to arrive this morning at 7:50am. Sue was the first one to greet us. Sweetest woman on earth. Took the time to chat with us and make us smile. I love great service!

Their bar area is big and elegant. This morning this was the place were they made our lattes.

Banana Latte. @Tarajroth was feeling adventurous and Chris the GM suggested she try this. Chris was the one who actually made it for her. It tasted like a Bananas Foster. I enjoyed seeing the GM in the mix of things and working.

Regular Latte. I loved mine the best. The traditional latte with a sprinkle of cinnamon. Chris knocked this one out of the park.
Now…Lets talk COMIDA!!!!

Sage Fried Chicken and Waffles. Two Sage fried chicken breasts with hardwood smoked bacon, waffle tower, hot maple reduction and fried leeks.
Holy Mother of all that is gigantic!! I needed a ladder to get to this. It was at least five stories high. WOW! It merits two pictures!

Andy’s Sage fried chicken with fresh spinach, hardwood smoked bacon, market tomato, griddled mozzarella and chipotle cream. This is the Man Vs Food favorite. Again, I repeat, WOW. Enormous!

House Hash Chorizo, jalapenos, cheddar cheese and fresh tomato with eggs over medium.
This was the @wholycheesus and Sue recommendation. Fantastic. Had a subtle kick to it and loads of flavor.

We asked for twenty five boxes to bring it to go and needed a U-Haul truck to bring it all back. LOL. In all seriousness, bring your appetite. Everything is delicious. Customer service in this place is top notch!!

Sue, Thanks for being you. You were very kind to chat with us and take time to explain the goodies on the menu. Until we “Eat” again.

Finally. Wow. Can’t believe it has taking me so long to get here. Many of my fellow foodies and bloggers have told me plenty about this place.

Full house today. Couldn’t get good pics. Not what I expected. Very groovy and funky place. I was dressed up coming from work and felt way overdressed.

These masters of sandwich making are not only good at their craft but they are all super friendly as well. That made me feel very comfortable. This was a quick stop for me and just ordered one dish and had to head out. I hate to eat and run. Lets talk FOOD!!

Mama Ling Ling’s Thanksgiving.
Turkey, Gouda, Stuffing, Ginger Cranberry Chutney, Mashed Potato, and Cream Cheese with a side of gravy.
This is the sandwich most of the people I know recommended. There are so many choices. Their cupcakes look amazing too. They have several desserts to choose from. Great place. Will be back again very soon.

Tonight was a preview night. Big Gracias to @droolius for inviting me to this event. It was Red Eye’s Beer Garden Preview night.

Since it opened I have been a fan of Red Eye. I was fortunate enough to eat the first day it opened. Thanks to @Joeyme1 and @kokocooks for that invite.

Rob Nelson, owner of Red Eye has a problem. A very good problem. Many people love his food and his restaurant fills up quickly. Well, in order to accommodate more people he has made a Beer Garden Patio in the back of the restaurant. What was once was a two car parking area has become the Red Eye Beer Garden.

This evening the weather was perfect. Just being able to sit out in the patio and have a good beer felt so good. I could see myself coming here just to hang out. This evening we were greeted with beer and their famous Red Eye Sliders.

Woodchuck Hard Cider (Pink) Nice and smooth. Now, I have to start off by saying I don’t drink, but I had to try this one. Very nice. Light and sweet. @Tarajroth tasted some and she loved it. This one I would order again.

@Droolius had the Curious Traveler Shandy. All the beers they had on tap looked good. I wish I would have gotten all the names. Again, not being a beer drinker put me at a disadvantage.

Red Eye Slider.
Our housemade cornbread muffins filled with BBQ pulled pork and topped with our house BBQ sauce and honey.
From my previous Red Eye blog post you can see how yummy these are. One of their best appetizers.

Come and check out Red Eye. Do like we did. We had dinner first and then went to the Beer Garden. Here is some of our dinner items as well:

Red Eye Burger with a side of Mac and Cheese.

Half Rack of Ribs with loaded baked potato.

Burnt Ends.

Pulled Pork Sandwich with French Fries (kids menu)

Orlando Snack Café | Foodbidden

Orlando Snack Café

After gaining all this weight in Chicago last week I had to go for one more place this morning back home in Florida. Hunters Creek area is home to this great cafe.

Glad to find it open on Sundays. 8:00am to 1:00pm. Rest of the week it’s 8:00am to 8:00pm. Christian was the gentleman helping us out today. Great guy with a great attitude.

Had no idea it was Venezuelan food. Actually, didn’t know what to expect when we came. We were pleasantly surprised.

Only a few people here this morning at 9:00am. All Venezualan customers coming in for their usual empanadas and cafecito. Now, LET’S TALK FOOD!!

Cafe con leche. Of course. What better way to start the morning.

Shredded Beef Omelette. Shredded beef, egg, cheese.

Criollo Breakfast. Perico eggs, shredded beef, black beans.

Cachapa. I used to always like these, but because of @eatlocalorlando I have become more of a fan.

Check it out for yourself. Nice little hidden gem. BUEN PROVECHO!!

Vespr Craft Coffee and Allures | Foodbidden

Vespr Craft Coffee and Allures

This morning was a 45 minute drive sort of day. @OrlandoFamStyle @Tarajroth Brian and I were meeting for the Lunch Bunch today and we decided to start things off with some craft coffee.

Vespr has been here for about a month in the Waterford Towers on Alafaya. Kaitlin who was helping us today mentioned that they would be adding new items to the menu. @TastyChomps did a beautiful write up and posted some videos on Vespr. TastyChomps.com

Being our first time we went The Coffee Siphon way. Had to do it. The Siphon produces more flavor, clarity, and lighter body. Kaitlin was nice enough to explain the process. The Coffee Siphon is like a water vac system. Water vapor goes to the top of the chamber. You steam coffee grounds to a minute and a half. Reduce from heat and the paper filter traps all oils on the top. Not exactly what she said but ya get the idea.

Not the best explanation, but @TastyChomps has it all spelled out for ya. After reading his blog post on Vespr it made me want to go and try this place. I also looked it up on line and found the whole process of The Coffee Siphon.

I was amazed by the whole process. I ordered the
Senda Salvaje.
Honeysuckle, smooth lemon zest, honey, tangerine, roasted cocoa nib.

@Tarajroth ordered the Brazil Ipanema-Peaberry.
White grape, Asian Pear, roasted hazelnut.

I took a sip of each coffee as is. Being the typical Latino that I am I asked for lots of milk to add to it. I could still appreciate the flavor of the coffee.

Overall, nice place. Sweet treats are always a plus in any coffee shop. They had some small cookies and sweets, but nothing that will fill you up. It’s only been open for about a month and I can see this place truly being successful in this location.

Kaitlin, you rock girl! Thanks for showing us the way of the Siphon. We live in Kissimmee, but it was worth the drive. Thanks again.

Go-Hyang-Gip Korean Restaurant | Foodbidden

Go-Hyang-Gip Korean Restaurant

They don’t know it, but tonight’s meal was encouraged by @droolius and @eatlocalorlando. I saw their comments and likes on the internet. I was in a Korean food mood and @tarajroth was happy to join me.

We arrived here at 6:20pm. Completely empty, so I was a bit nervous. Two lovely ladies greeted us immediately and were very friendly. Based on reviews I expected this place to be packed. But it was still early.

The tables are ready for the Hot Pot and the flat top is ready for some true sizzling. Tonight we decided to just order from the menu. More people started coming in later on. Now lets talk COMIDA!!

Yaki Mandu. Homemade pan fried dumplings filled with pork, beef and vegetables.
What a great starter. Wifey and I loved these. Made just right.

Kimchi Pancake is always a must. I didn’t order these. The owner brought some out for us to taste. Very nice of them.

Pork Bulgogi. Grilled pork marinated in special spicy and sweet sauce. This was wifey’s choice. I loved it.

L. A. Style Galbi. Short ribs marinated in special sauce. Grilled from the kitchen. This was my dish and my all time favorite.

The yummy side dishes always make these Korean dining experiences superb.

Stone Pot BiBim Bop. Steamed rice with mixed vegetables, beef and egg served in a sizzling stone pot. I had read about this and I had to order it. Not the best picture, but it was very tasty. The owner and our server came out to talk to us and asked how everything was. We loved every single dish.

The best part of the meal. They brought us out some cantaloupe for desert. What a great way to end our dining adventure.

This is a must try. The staff are super friendly and make you feel very comfortable as soon as you walk in.

Hawkers Asian Street Fare | Foodbidden

Hawkers Asian Street Fare

Thanks to @kokocooks, @tytyeats, and @Joeyme1 for the invite on lunch today. I love any sort of quality time with them. Great people to be around. I have always heard about Hawkers, but thought it was a place that sold wings and beer. Man, was I wrong. This is Asian Street Fare. They had me at “Street”.

I arrived super early to check out the parking scene. Surprisingly, they have a parking lot. I assumed everything on Mills didn’t. Love Orlando and its surprises.

I had read all the reviews and it seemed half and half. At least with the people that I know or trust with reviews. But as you know I had to try it for myself. I love seeing 15 blog posts about it because it makes it easier on me. Enjoy the other blog posts. Here are my pictures and my thoughts.

Thai Iced Tea. This is a must every place I go.

2 Spring Rolls
Crispy spring rolls filled with shredded vegetables and served with Vietnamese vinaigrette.

6 Curry Hawker Meatballs
Asian beef meatballs skewered then covered in curry sauce. Spicy. Oh yeah!! I couldn’t get enough of their curry sauce. I literally poured it on everything.

Roti Canai
Malaysian flat breads served with a side of signature spicy curry dipping sauce. Spicy. Not sure why they say spicy. It wasn’t for me. It may be spicy for others.

5 Spice
Your choice of protein lightly battered and fried to a golden crisp then tossed in signature five spice seasoning. Today I chose Fish. @Joeyme1 had talked about the fish tacos so it prompted me to get fish for this dish. Very yum!

Hawker’s Delight
Tofu, broccoli, napa, carrots, bell peppers mushrooms piled high and stir fried in a light soy based sauce. Vegetarian. This was @Joeyme1 dish. I couldn’t taste it. Too many vegetables and way too healthy for me. : )

Ramen Burger
Freshly ground beef, Kalbi sauce marinade, Dried Ramen noodles, House-made kimchi,Cilantro sprigs, and Scallions. @Kokocooks follows Hawkers on Facebook and knew about the burger. It was great. I took a bite and loved it.

Banh Mi Slider with Bulgogi Beef. They didn’t have the roasted duck which I really wanted to try. Kind of sad they didn’t have it. @Joeyme1 suggested the Banh Mi and I went for it. Great taste. The Bulgogi makes it ten times better.

This place is nice. Very nice. I was impressed with the restaurant. Very clean. Well lit. A bit noisy at times. The best way to experience these Asian tapas are with a group of friends and sharing a bit of everything. Two thumbs up!! I will be back here again!!

Again, thank you so much to @kokocooks and @Joeyme1. If it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t have most of my experiences. You two rock!!

Kosher Grill | Foodbidden

Kosher Grill

From Kosher On Wheels to Glatt Kosher Grill. Nati Azulay and his team have gone from Food Truck to Brick and Mortar.

His grand opening was September 10 at his new location on 5615 International Drive, Orlando, FL.
I remember blogging about Kosher On Wheels and how pleased I was with their food. As soon as I heard about the restaurant opening I had to come and eat some more. It is a bit far from Kissimmee, but Nati and the Kosher Grill team make the trip worthwhile.

Everything is made fresh to order. The place is spotless. It has a very modern look to it and as soon as you walk in you smell deliciousness.
Nati has always been about customer service. Always suggesting dishes for me to taste and I have never been let down. Today was no different. I asked what he recommended for breakfast and he said, “I will take care of it”. And he did!

Eggs poached in a sauce of tomatoes, chili peppers, onions. Serve with Israeli salad, tahini and bread.
Nati and his team have hit a home run with this dish. Absolutely amazing. This tomato sauce is just like momma used to make. The flavors all come together to make a perfect dish.

Two thumbs up for Kosher Grill. Nati and the gang have done it again. This is the place to be for all your Kosher needs. If you are ever in the area you need to come and check out Kosher Grill. You will not be disappointed.

Nati and Itzik, thank you so much for the delicious food and great service. This is the best breakfast I have had in a long time. I will be back soon. Mazal Tov on your grand opening!

Lechonera Latina Restaurante | Foodbidden

Lechonera Latina Restaurante

(Photos courtesy of http://www.lechoneralatina.net)

It all started amazing. I worked until 12pm near this restaurant and @annrodoz had suggested for us to come here for lunch.

I said no at first, but the hunger got the best of me. I had seen and heard about Lechonera before.

When I walked in I could have sworn I died and went to Latin heaven.

The amount of food they have here was unbelievable.

Spanish music playing and all kinds of yummy smells inside the restaurant. My stomach started growling.

The service is very efficient. Not a slow moving person in this place.

You make line and they ask want you want and the magic begins.

The amount of food that is served is unreal. The young lady helping me out served me a huge portion.

Luckily I had reinforcements with me. @annrodoz and my friend Amy. We were able to share all this delicious food.

I have never seen so many variations of Spanish rice.

The ribs looked amazing and @annrodoz did not hesitate in ordering the ribs.

Mangu is always a must. Lechonera is Puerto Rican and Dominican food. The mixture of these two cultures and cuisines is a dream come true for a Latin food lover like me.

Ribs, Mangu, and Yellow rice with ham.

Pernil, Maduros, and yellow rice with ham.

Food is great. Service is quick and efficient. Whether you need it to go or to eat in you won’t be disappointed. The portions are huge. They serve a lot of food. The food line feels like it goes on forever. Took a look first and then go and order. Enjoy the variety of rice, beans, and meats. BUEN PROVECHO!!

Cafe Osceola | Foodbidden

Cafe Osceola

This was a different experience to say the least. Rosen Shingle Creek is an amazing hotel with a variety of restaurants.

Cafe Osceola was my first try. I cannot wait to try what other options they have within the hotel. I have heard many great things about their other restaurants.

I was there for lunch today and it wasn’t as busy. Many conference folks come here for lunch. We got in before the rush.

Amazing soups.

Great options for salad

The buffet options just keep going.

Sandwich options.

Food and more food.

Did I mention food?

Funny how with all those choices I ended up picking the curry chicken with the fried rice.

Key Lime Pie

Red Velvet
Overall, the buffet is a very nice. It is very pricey, but worth every penny. The service is fantastic. The desserts were just okay. I tried the red velvet and key lime pie and I wasn’t too crazy about them. The buffet on this day for lunch was $18.99. So make sure you come hungry. I would like to come here for dinner and see what it’s like.

Two thumbs up!!

El Inka Grill | Foodbidden

El Inka Grill

My pre-birthday celebration and @vbterp said I was to choose what I wanted for the day.

I was in the mood for some good Peruvian cuisine.

I had overheard that this was a good place.

Toasted Corn with jalapeño sauce

Calamares Fritos
Crispy calamari rings with creole sauce and fried yuca.

Tallerines Verdes Con Churrasco:
Charbroiled Black Angus skirt steak served with Peruvian pesto spaghetti

Picante de Mariscos
A seafood mix sautéed with spicy rich creamy sauce served with rice.

Suspiro A La Limeña. Milk, sugar, almond flour, meringue, and cinnamon.

Picarones. Squash, sweet potato, and chancaca (solidified molasses)

Overall, The service was good. The restaurant is pretty pricey so I was expecting excellent customer service. It lacks in that department, but the food is very good. The ambience is very nice. When you walk in you are expecting fine dining, but the customer service kind of lets you down.

Two Thumbs Up for the food. Customer service need to be bumped up a notch.
