Mexican Restaurants Kissimmee

Tres Amigos Authentic Mexican Restaurant

Formerly a Latin Buffet, now Tres Amigos has taken over and seems to be making quite a name for itself in the past five months here in Kissimmee.

As soon as I walked in I was greeted by Julio. He sat me down and immediately asked me what I would like to drink.

For all of you have read my blog before you know that customer service goes along way with me. I also noticed the other staff members working hard and smiling while doing it.

The staff was very efficient with some of the locals in the restaurant today. I knew some of them were out of town because of their license plates. As the dishes were being brought out to the other customers I noticed the portions were big.

Chips and Salsa. What a great way to start my spring break week. The white sauce was especially my favorite.

Enchiladas Verdes. These were pretty good. A little bit on the salty side. I would have liked the green sauce to be a little bit more spicy. The tomatoes, sour cream, and guacamole are always a good combination.

Enchiladas Verdes. This is another shot of it. I will have to come back again and try other dishes to see what their seasonings are like. They have a pretty extensive menu. Looking forward to coming back.

Tres Leches. This is a must anywhere I go. Sadly, I am not a fan of the strawberry inside. Still the cake was nice and moist. Very good.

Overall, reasonable prices, nice and clean restaurant, and good customer service. Located on 192 and the Turnpike. This place is not to be missed.

Julio, Gracias por todo. El servicio estuvo excelente.

Amigos Mexican Grill

Thank you so much to @xobejm and @annrodoz for joining me on this foodventure. It was a last minute arrangement and it worked out well.

Here we are. This was formerly a hobby shop and loved by many in Kissimmee. Now it’s Amigos Mexican Grill.

Many friends thought this was their neighborhood Tex-Mex location in Orlando. Not even close to that.

This is Moe’s and Chipotle had a Latino baby and they named him Amigos Mexican Grill.

@Xobejm got the Amigos Bowl with steak and the works on it. She was able to pick whatever topping she wanted. This was perfect for her.

@annrodoz got the Chicken and Cheese quesadilla. Again made to her liking with all her favorite toppings inside.

Mine was the Amigos Burrito. Again, with anything I wanted inside. I ordered the steak.

The customer service was awesome. They have been open for 2 months and they will be having a live band soon. If you are a fan of Moe’s then you will love this restaurant. We were given a taste of every meat they had. Nice variety and very flavorful.

Overall, don’t expect authentic Mexican because it’s not. It’s just a more improved version of Chipotle. These ingredients are just as fresh and it’s not a chain. Give it a try. You will be pleasantly surprised.

El Tenampa Mexican Restaurant

El Tenampa Mexican Restaurant

With their new and improved look Tenampa is leading the way in Mexican food in this area. Rated as one of the best in any app, website, review, etc. This is a hard place to get into. Always busy! Full of people from literally all over the world.

It used to look pretty bad and beat up. The parking lot is still a little scary, but I like how they spruced this place up.

Today was a daddy daughter day. @Xobejm was feeling adventurous so we decided to come to Tenampa.

We arrived right at 5:00pm. I knew that would be a good time to beat all the local traffic and the tourist traffic as well. Tenampa is next to the India Diner.

Even the menu got a facelift. Loads to choose from. @Xobejm decided to play it safe and order the quesadilla. I had to get the steak.

Jugo de Mango, Piña, and Lemonade. Lucia our server brought it out for us to try their different jugos. Very tasty. Our favorite was the Lemonade. We also had to make it into a Mickey Mouse shape. : )

I ordered the jugo de guayaba. This jugo hits the spot all the time. Delicioso!

Chips and salsa to start our food adventure. We always have to be careful with how much we eat because we don’t want to get too full. Now….on with the FOOD STUFF!!!!

Arrachera El Tenampa. Steak with cactus and grilled onions,
rice, beans, avocado, and pico de gallo. It deserved two pictures. The meat was outstanding and the hot pepper was super spicy. That made me very happy.

Chicken and Cheese quesadilla with rice and beans. This was @xobejm dish. She was so overwhelmed with all the choices she decided to go the safe route.

Flan. Ok, ok. I know I say the same old thing every time. I am not a fan, but I had to try it. Made for a great photo too. This flan was great. Seriously, over the top great. Maybe I am becoming a fan of flan now.

Tres Leches. This was interesting. The berries in the middle just didn’t do it for me. The icing on the top is good. Not my favorite. I rather go with the flan.

Overall great place.
Lucia, Gracias for the great customer service. You were awesome!

Taqueria Casas

Taqueria Casas

Casas has been opened in this location for about 2 years now. Maybe a bit more. @Tarajroth and I have come here for lunch. The tacos are not the best, but they are good.

The only issue I have about this place is that’s it’s too loud. They always have the radio station playing and it’s always at full blast. Sometimes it’s music and sometimes it’s just talk shows.

It’s a nice place. Always looks clean when we walk in. Today they were mopping the floors so it all was extremely clean this morning. Lots to choose from on the menu and the prices are great. I came for breakfast today.

Torta (Sausage and Egg). The man at the counter asked if I wanted it spicy and I said EXTRA! They put the works in this sandwich. Avocado, mayo, sausage (which remind me of hot dogs) lettuce, jalapenos, etc. This was a great morning breakfast.

Come and check them out for lunch and dinner. Good food at amazing prices.

La Herradura Mexican Restaurant

La Herradura Mexican Restaurant

Mexican restaurant with some class. Great looking interior. Used to be Martin’s BBQ on the the corner of John Young Parkway and Deerfield. Now it has been redesigned and has had a facelift. Welcome La Herradura to Orlando. It’s been open for three weeks now.

Love the decor. Staff is beyond friendly. As soon as I was approaching the entrance the staff opened the door for me as welcomed me to the restaurant.

Some locals were here already enjoying the lunch specials and the mid afternoon margaritas.

Plenty of room on the inside but even more seating outside. Today was chilly so I chose to sit indoors. I would love to see this place at night full of people enjoying the food and the ambience.

Chips and salsa are always the perfect start to a good meal. Millena was my server today and she was so pleasant. Great service is a must for me.

Number 4 Lunch combo. One grilled cheese steak and one grilled cheese chicken taco with rice, beans, and salad.

Number 4 Lunch Combo. Everything was delicious. The chicken and the steak were very well made. La Herradura should and will be doing big things in this location. BUEN PROVECHO!!

Millena, Gracias por tu servicio y tu sonrisa tan linda. La comida estuvo deliciosa. Voy a regresar con mi familia muy pronto.

Azteca’s Mexican Restaurant

Azteca’s Mexican Restaurant

This one was a pleasant find on Main Street in Kissimmee.

@Xobejm and I were heading towards downtown Kissimmee when we came across Azteca’s. Now, I know what you are thinking. Let me explain. During my 14 years in Kissimmee this place has been here, but just remodeled. The other Aztecas are the chain locations. Some end with Oro, or D’Oro, etc. This one has a similar name but this one is the local restaurant.

Chips and Salsa. Good start to a long work day. Salsa was fresh and not watered down. @Xobejm enjoyed this. It didn’t taste like it was made yesterday. Good stuff.

Uxmal. White melted cheese topped with chorizo. (Mexican sausage) This comes with freshly made tortillas. I haven’t had this in years. I like to put it in the tortilla and make a little taco of it. Very Cheesy! YUM!

Cheese quesadilla with a side of sour cream. Baby Girl wasn’t feeling adventurous today, so she went plain and simple. She loved it. Very tasty.

Plato Azteca. A combination of Tamal, Taco, Tostada with beef. At first glance I was a little shocked by the size, but it was definitely manageable.

Enchiladas Suizas. Chicken enchiladas covered with ranchero salsa, sour cream, and melted cheese. This was for @tarajroth. I got this for her To Go.

Flan. Homemade creamy egg custard with caramel sauce.

Napoleon special. Fried plantains with sweet cream and Cajeta (Mexican Caramel) with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The owner of Azteca’s his name is Napoleon. This was the perfect dessert for me.

El Tapatio Mexican Restaurant

El Tapatio Mexican Restaurant

With this nasty Flu I have I still went out for dinner tonight. Had to pick up @xobejm from school and I figured if I am out why not just seize the moment.

Ahhhhh…home sweet home. For all of you who remember my Foursquare check in days. This used to be Garibaldi. We used to check in and have dinner here almost two to three times a week.

Similar layout to Garibaldi. @Xobejm says the lighting is the same. Actually, she says she remembers it because she did not like the lighting before. Very observant 9 year old. : )

Not many people here at 5:00pm. Which was usually the case with the old place. @Xobejm, @tarajroth, and I would come here all the time. Baby Girl’s school is nearby, so it’s the perfect place to have dinner before heading home.

The bar looked a bit different. Everything seems to have a fresher look to it. We did notice the painting of the exterior as well. Now, lets get on to the FOOD stuff, Lisbeth was our server for this evening. Awesome service and great personality. Our friend Francis joined us tonight. The more the merrier! Here we go,

@Xobejm ordered her usual. Cheese quesadilla with French Fries and a side of sour cream.

Torta De Carne Asada. As you recall from my previous posts. I had this same exact thing. I wanted to try it from El Tapatio.

Steak, Lettuce, Avocado, Tomato, mayo, and jalapeños.

Huarache De Pastor. Lettuce, Tomato, Queso Fresco, Sour Cream, Avocado. Love the name Huarache (Sandal).

Our dear friend Frances ordered the Chicken Chimichanga with rice and beans. She said it was just the right spice in the sauce.

@Tarajroth ordered the Combo: Steak taco, Cheese enchilada, Rice, and Beans.

Last, but definitely not least: Churros.

Tres Leches. Very interesting lemon type filling in the middle.

Flan. The consistency was spot on.

Sorry I am not writing much about the flavor. As much as I ate I couldn’t taste a thing because of all the meds I am on. Wifey, Baby Girl, and Frances loved it.

Garibaldi has been closed for a bit now. I have always loved the environment here. It’s gonna be nice to be coming back here again and become familiar with the folks and the menu at the new El Tapatio.

Tortilleria La Mexicana #10

Tortilleria La Mexicana #10

Tortilleria La Mexicana #10

Kissimmee is known for its delicious Puerto Rican food and hidden within the small streets are the Mexican Restaurants. La Mexicana is more of a supermarket, but has a restaurant inside as well.

It’s the best picture I could take. Lots of people with families and I didn’t want to scare them with my picture taking. Although @xobejm did ask me if I get embarrassed taking pictures in places. I guess she could tell by my face.

It also has a small bakery. This is truly the one stop shop. You can get all your groceries here and get a bite to eat at the restaurant.

Now as you see they are not about being fancy in Kissimmee, but they are ready to make some yummy food. The tiny kitchen is hard at work for the locals.

I love their tables. Not sure where the other 9 places are at, but apparently this is number #10.

A well lit version of the table from another angle. I like the creativity of these tables.

@Xobejm ordered the Taco De Carne Asada (Steak) with Rice and Beans. Not sure if you have to request toppings or not. Baby Girl just ate it plain, but she knew she should have asked for more stuff on top of that taco. The steak was very good though.

My order was the Torta De Milanesa. (Breaded Steak) with the works inside.

Fresh Mexican cheese, lettuce, tomato, jalapeños, mayonnaise, avocado, etc. This was amazing. Baby Girl ate half of my sandwich cuz she loved it so much.

Rio Mexican Grille

Rio Mexican Grille

Rio Mexican Grille

Tonight Baby Girl was hanging out with grandma. Wifey and I searched for a new place while avoiding the mall and outlet traffic. On 192 on mile marker 10 is Rio Mexican Grille.

We were greeted by Linda when we walked in. She was very friendly and in a great mood. She walked us in and I was amazed by the size of this place. It’s huge.

This seemed more like an overflow room even though it is part of the restaurant. I would love to see the whole restaurant packed with people. I am sure this place is hopping in the evening.

This is the bar. Great options and they offer a variety of drinks. With a bar like this, you name it, you get it. The same owner of this restaurant owns Sharky’s sports bar next door.

I love their set up. You can see the decorations and how much work they put into the appearance.

Lily our server came to our table with our chips and salsa. This salsa was delicious. Not at all what you taste in other restaurants. Fresh cilantro in this salsa. @Tarajroth and I were very happy.

Carnitas a la Michoacan with yellow rice and beans. Corn tortillas on the side. The onions on top of the pork made the flavors pop. I actually made a taco and added some of the salsa from the chips to the taco to make a perfect bite.

Wifey @tarajroth ordered the Cheese enchiladas with yellow rice and beans. They come with two different sauces. Red and green. @Tarajroth decorated them nicely but unfortunately I didn’t get a picture. These enchiladas were very tasty and cheesy.

I ended with the Tres Leches. Love the taste of this. Not too sweet. Just the right amount of cinnamon on top.

@Tarajroth got the deep fried ice cream. I love the presentation of this dish. They made a great design on the plate. I tasted some of this and it was fantastic.

Rio Mexican Grille is worth giving a try. Great staff and great food. As all of you know, I love great customer service over anything else. Lily and Linda went above and beyond and made our experience ten times better.

Lilly, Gracias por todo. We will be coming back soon. Thank you so much for laughing with us.

Linda, we loved your smile when we walked in. Thanks for your kindness.
