Oceanspray Cranberry Bog Experience

The Cranberry Bog event hosted by Oceanspray at Epcot Food and Wine was the highlight of my evening. Big MEGA KUDOS to @TheLittleKitchn for the invite. This was for a special invite only media event. All great and powerful gurus from Central Florida coming together for this special event.

Usually from mid-September until around mid-November cranberries are ready for harvesting.

The health benefits to eating cranberries are endless and Oceanspray is doing its part in educating the public via their website, events, and social media outlets.

Tonight was the Cranberry Bog experience. We would have the opportunity to go into the bog and experience it firsthand.

The set up was spectacular. Every guest that was at Epcot today for the Food and Wine festival would pass by the bog and take lots of pictures.

This was our first time going into a cranberry bog. @TheLittleKitchn and I were so excited to this. I found myself thanking her every chance I could for getting to do this.

Putting on the waders was much harder than I expected. A cast member suggested that I sit down and put the boot part on first and then pull the rest of the wader up. The boot part was heavy. Not at all what I thought it would be. After I had it on I felt like a true blue farmer.

Once you got into the bog you were offered a beverage.

Snacks were provided as well. Every snack and drink provided incorporated cranberries.

We all felt like superstars in the bog. Guests from Epcot would stand and wonder who we were while we took pictures and tried the different treats. The true VIP experience.

The set up was perfect and the tables in the middle of the bog made it twice as awesome.

I truly enjoyed the natural effects of the lights and the shadows on the cranberry bog.

Here I am taking pictures of @TheLittleKitchn and getting caught doing it. Amazing time.

Thanks again to @TheLittleKitchn for the invite. Without her I wouldn’t have had this humbling experience.

Huge thanks to Oceanspray for hosting this event and allowing people to experience a cranberry bog in the middle of Epcot.

The Swat Truck (Food Truck)

After a hard days work I rushed home and got into my #foodspotting gear. I wasn’t going to let the rain get me down.

@Foodtruckbazaar had come to Hunters Creek which is five minutes away from my place.

The Swat Truck was making their first appearance at the @foodtruckbazaar

Their menu looked enticing and I wanted to try all of them. I knew I had to make a choice. Curtis from the Swat Truck suggested a surf and turf meal.

A skewer from the Hot Tails and one from the Billy Clubs. He offered some sauces. BBQ, Hot, or Sriracha. I chose the Sriracha. Nice and spicy!!

The dish came with a Mild Cajun Spiced Shrimp kabob and the Beef Red and Green Bell Pepper kabob.

On a bed of rice and veggies. This was amazing. Great dish and all these flavors put together were perfect.

Curtis, great meeting you. Thanks for the great customer service and suggestion. Sriracha all the way man! TWO THUMBS UP!!

Lechonera Latina Restaurante

(Photos courtesy of http://www.lechoneralatina.net)

It all started amazing. I worked until 12pm near this restaurant and @annrodoz had suggested for us to come here for lunch.

I said no at first, but the hunger got the best of me. I had seen and heard about Lechonera before.

When I walked in I could have sworn I died and went to Latin heaven.

The amount of food they have here was unbelievable.

Spanish music playing and all kinds of yummy smells inside the restaurant. My stomach started growling.

The service is very efficient. Not a slow moving person in this place.

You make line and they ask want you want and the magic begins.

The amount of food that is served is unreal. The young lady helping me out served me a huge portion.

Luckily I had reinforcements with me. @annrodoz and my friend Amy. We were able to share all this delicious food.

I have never seen so many variations of Spanish rice.

The ribs looked amazing and @annrodoz did not hesitate in ordering the ribs.

Mangu is always a must. Lechonera is Puerto Rican and Dominican food. The mixture of these two cultures and cuisines is a dream come true for a Latin food lover like me.

Ribs, Mangu, and Yellow rice with ham.

Pernil, Maduros, and yellow rice with ham.

Food is great. Service is quick and efficient. Whether you need it to go or to eat in you won’t be disappointed. The portions are huge. They serve a lot of food. The food line feels like it goes on forever. Took a look first and then go and order. Enjoy the variety of rice, beans, and meats. BUEN PROVECHO!!

Olives Mediterranean Bar & Cafe

Another day at work and this was a rough one. While arriving to the port it started pouring rain. I was concerned about heading out, but the hunger got the best of me and I decided to go out under the rain.

Olives has been on my mind and has always caught my eye, but never tried it myself. Crew members usually come here for lunch and WiFi.

The umbrella area seems to be the smoking section. Some people at the bar would step out and come here to smoke.

The chalkboard usually has lunch specials. Today it was blank. Just a few things written on it. I was surprised.

Ahhhh. Here they are. Seems the chalkboard in the kitchen area is not the best place for specials anymore. Everyday they have different specials.

Staff is super friendly. You come in and ask to be seated. Any place you sit is a good spot. It is nice to be seated indoors and yet feel the Bahamian breeze.

This was where I was seated. Near the TV. Oh yeah. They know me well. You can order food at the bar area or with the server. I asked for the recommendation of the day.

Seafood Ensalada
Grilled Shrimp, fish fillet, romaine, chopped vegetables, cherry tomato, shaved parmesan, balsamic herb vinaigrette.

I cannot express how good this was. As you know from my other blog posts I tend not to eat any type of salads. This is not something I would order on my own. Glad the staff recommended this dish.

Matilda’s On Park

This blog post is in honor of @dafoodie and @talktochu! Mega Super Gracias for the suggestion and invite to Matilda’s.

Park avenue is the place to be in Winter Park for a great meal. Today was a group eating sort of day.

We arrived for lunch. It was about 11:30am. @ExplorinOrlando @bstreett5 @winechix @tarajroth @eatlocalorlando @dafoodie and @talktochu and myself (@foodbidden) were in attendance.

Matilda’s accommodated all of us without a problem. Luckily, @dafoodie had given them a heads up that we would ALL be arriving.

The place is very nice. According to @dafoodie this location has had several name changes. It has only been Matilda’s for about 8 months now.

Located on Park Avenue and Canton. The staff is no joke. Everyone is friendly and knowledgable about their dishes. Today Ashley was our server and handled the group very well. Now, LET’S TALK COMIDA!!

@Eatlocalorlando dish: Shrimp Gumbo

@Eatlocalorlando dish: Bacon Cowboy Ranch Salad

@Tarajroth dish: Mad Mac Bites. Our famous mac blended with bacon, deep-fried, and drizzled in secret sauce.

@tarajroth dish: Barbie Fries with cheddar cheese sauce.

@foodbidden dish: Roo Burger. Kangaroo meat is beef like, but with its own full-bodied flavor. Served with our cheese lager sauce, onion straws.

Roo Burger with Truffle fries.

@winechix dish: Popeye Mac and Cheese. Goat cheese, sautéed spinach, artichokes, roasted red pepper, and roasted garlic.

@Tarajroth dish: Buffalo Chicken Mac. Tender white chicken, cheddar and American cheese, blended with our famous secret sauce.

@dafoodie dish: Trio Grilled Chicken Tacos. Tequila honey lime, marinated chicken over lettuce, topped with roasted corn, salsa, fresh avocado, and lime, cilantro cream.

@talktochu dish: Banana Bread Pudding with strawberries and ice cream.

Overall, a fantastic experience. This is a place we are planning to go to again. Very laid back for lunch. Lots of TV screens for game days. The greeting when entering the restaurant is a very nice touch and the opening of the door when we walked out made me feel like a VIF. (Very Important Foodie)

Ashley, thank you so much for the great service and making all those fantastic recommendations for us. They were spot on.

Two Thumbs Up!!

Kosher Grill

From Kosher On Wheels to Glatt Kosher Grill. Nati Azulay and his team have gone from Food Truck to Brick and Mortar.

His grand opening was September 10 at his new location on 5615 International Drive, Orlando, FL.
I remember blogging about Kosher On Wheels and how pleased I was with their food. As soon as I heard about the restaurant opening I had to come and eat some more. It is a bit far from Kissimmee, but Nati and the Kosher Grill team make the trip worthwhile.

Everything is made fresh to order. The place is spotless. It has a very modern look to it and as soon as you walk in you smell deliciousness.
Nati has always been about customer service. Always suggesting dishes for me to taste and I have never been let down. Today was no different. I asked what he recommended for breakfast and he said, “I will take care of it”. And he did!

Shakshouka
Eggs poached in a sauce of tomatoes, chili peppers, onions. Serve with Israeli salad, tahini and bread.
Nati and his team have hit a home run with this dish. Absolutely amazing. This tomato sauce is just like momma used to make. The flavors all come together to make a perfect dish.

Two thumbs up for Kosher Grill. Nati and the gang have done it again. This is the place to be for all your Kosher needs. If you are ever in the area you need to come and check out Kosher Grill. You will not be disappointed.

Nati and Itzik, thank you so much for the delicious food and great service. This is the best breakfast I have had in a long time. I will be back soon. Mazal Tov on your grand opening!

Hawkers Asian Street Fare

Thanks to @kokocooks, @tytyeats, and @Joeyme1 for the invite on lunch today. I love any sort of quality time with them. Great people to be around. I have always heard about Hawkers, but thought it was a place that sold wings and beer. Man, was I wrong. This is Asian Street Fare. They had me at “Street”.

I arrived super early to check out the parking scene. Surprisingly, they have a parking lot. I assumed everything on Mills didn’t. Love Orlando and its surprises.

I had read all the reviews and it seemed half and half. At least with the people that I know or trust with reviews. But as you know I had to try it for myself. I love seeing 15 blog posts about it because it makes it easier on me. Enjoy the other blog posts. Here are my pictures and my thoughts.

Thai Iced Tea. This is a must every place I go.

2 Spring Rolls
Crispy spring rolls filled with shredded vegetables and served with Vietnamese vinaigrette.

6 Curry Hawker Meatballs
Asian beef meatballs skewered then covered in curry sauce. Spicy. Oh yeah!! I couldn’t get enough of their curry sauce. I literally poured it on everything.

Roti Canai
Malaysian flat breads served with a side of signature spicy curry dipping sauce. Spicy. Not sure why they say spicy. It wasn’t for me. It may be spicy for others.

5 Spice
Your choice of protein lightly battered and fried to a golden crisp then tossed in signature five spice seasoning. Today I chose Fish. @Joeyme1 had talked about the fish tacos so it prompted me to get fish for this dish. Very yum!

Hawker’s Delight
Tofu, broccoli, napa, carrots, bell peppers mushrooms piled high and stir fried in a light soy based sauce. Vegetarian. This was @Joeyme1 dish. I couldn’t taste it. Too many vegetables and way too healthy for me. : )

Ramen Burger
Freshly ground beef, Kalbi sauce marinade, Dried Ramen noodles, House-made kimchi,Cilantro sprigs, and Scallions. @Kokocooks follows Hawkers on Facebook and knew about the burger. It was great. I took a bite and loved it.

Banh Mi Slider with Bulgogi Beef. They didn’t have the roasted duck which I really wanted to try. Kind of sad they didn’t have it. @Joeyme1 suggested the Banh Mi and I went for it. Great taste. The Bulgogi makes it ten times better.

This place is nice. Very nice. I was impressed with the restaurant. Very clean. Well lit. A bit noisy at times. The best way to experience these Asian tapas are with a group of friends and sharing a bit of everything. Two thumbs up!! I will be back here again!!

Again, thank you so much to @kokocooks and @Joeyme1. If it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t have most of my experiences. You two rock!!
