Mixturas Restaurant

Here we are on another Foodbidden Family adventure. I saw this place a few days ago and it definitely caught my eye. A Mexican and Peruvian Restaurant in the Kissimmee Business Center on Orange Blossom Trail.

Maria, our server was the first one to greet us at the door. Great smile and great customer service. Feels good to walk into a Latino establishment and get greeted with a genuine smile.

She was nice enough to let us take a picture of the shirt. The menu had both options. The Mexican side and the Peruvian side.

Inca Cola. I of course had to start with the “Golden Kola”. Now, LET’S TALK COMIDA!!

Steak Tacos with onions and cilantro. My roots and background will always take me to this dish. It was loaded with steak. Great stuff.

Papa a la Huancaina
Potatoes topped with Inca yellow pepper cheese sauce. I had these before at another place and these are delicious. This is a very special kind of cheese. Fantastic.

Lomo Saltado
Traditional Peruvian dish with slices of beef tenderloin sautéed with onions and served with rice and French Fries. This was @tarajroth dish. Very good. Lots of flavor and the fries with the beef juices were amazing.

Chicken and Cheese Quesadilla and a side of sour cream. As you know this is @xobejm dish all the time every place we go. The chicken was very tender.

Carne Asada
Tender USDA choice skirt steak extra lean and traditionally well done. Served with beans and Spanish rice with a garnish of fresh lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and avocado. This was my dish. Big portions and great tasting food.

When in Kissimmee come and check out Mixturas. Ask for Maria and you will be well taken care of.

Maria, Gracias por todo. You were awesome and we will be back very soon.

Go-Hyang-Gip Korean Restaurant

They don’t know it, but tonight’s meal was encouraged by @droolius and @eatlocalorlando. I saw their comments and likes on the internet. I was in a Korean food mood and @tarajroth was happy to join me.

We arrived here at 6:20pm. Completely empty, so I was a bit nervous. Two lovely ladies greeted us immediately and were very friendly. Based on reviews I expected this place to be packed. But it was still early.

The tables are ready for the Hot Pot and the flat top is ready for some true sizzling. Tonight we decided to just order from the menu. More people started coming in later on. Now lets talk COMIDA!!

Yaki Mandu. Homemade pan fried dumplings filled with pork, beef and vegetables.
What a great starter. Wifey and I loved these. Made just right.

Kimchi Pancake is always a must. I didn’t order these. The owner brought some out for us to taste. Very nice of them.

Pork Bulgogi. Grilled pork marinated in special spicy and sweet sauce. This was wifey’s choice. I loved it.

L. A. Style Galbi. Short ribs marinated in special sauce. Grilled from the kitchen. This was my dish and my all time favorite.

The yummy side dishes always make these Korean dining experiences superb.

Stone Pot BiBim Bop. Steamed rice with mixed vegetables, beef and egg served in a sizzling stone pot. I had read about this and I had to order it. Not the best picture, but it was very tasty. The owner and our server came out to talk to us and asked how everything was. We loved every single dish.

The best part of the meal. They brought us out some cantaloupe for desert. What a great way to end our dining adventure.

This is a must try. The staff are super friendly and make you feel very comfortable as soon as you walk in.

Cafe Skans (Nassau Bahamas)

Today the Foodbidden Family had an adventure like never before. In the ever interesting Nassau Bahamas.

We have seen it, but never came in. This was the day we had to do it. Little did we know what we would be getting ourselves into.

The restaurant is huge. I haven’t seen a place this big in Nassau ever. We tend to hit the little mom and pop shops. Well, this one is a mom and pop shop, but they have a lot of space.

The place got packed in a second. Wow. Locals and fellow cruisers were here this day wanting some good grub. This included us, so LET’S TALK FOOD!!!

Gyros Platter. All kinds of choices are served here. From Greek to Bahamian dishes. Lots of flavor in all our dishes here.

Jerk Chicken and Pork Combo with rice and bean mix and Mac and Cheese casserole. @tarajroth had this one and I have to admit this was my favorite.

Pork Chop Sandwich with French Fries. This was @xobejm dish. She originally ordered the ribs, but they are all gone by the time we got there. We arrived around 12:30pm. Strange. So, she went with the Pork Chop. I always have a hard time taking pics of a sandwich. I decided to add two pics to get an idea of what it looked like. It had lettuce, mayo, mustard, and onions. @xobejm went with no tomatoes.

We were absolutely floored on how well the food tasted. The service was awesome and Carla our server was efficient and had the best smile ever. Lots of flavor and way too much to choose from. This is the place to be and that is why so many people were here today. The lobster, shrimp, mussels, etc. looked amazing. My next time here I am going for the seafood.
