Red Eye Bar and Grill Beer Garden

Tonight was a preview night. Big Gracias to @droolius for inviting me to this event. It was Red Eye’s Beer Garden Preview night.

Since it opened I have been a fan of Red Eye. I was fortunate enough to eat the first day it opened. Thanks to @Joeyme1 and @kokocooks for that invite.

Rob Nelson, owner of Red Eye has a problem. A very good problem. Many people love his food and his restaurant fills up quickly. Well, in order to accommodate more people he has made a Beer Garden Patio in the back of the restaurant. What was once was a two car parking area has become the Red Eye Beer Garden.

This evening the weather was perfect. Just being able to sit out in the patio and have a good beer felt so good. I could see myself coming here just to hang out. This evening we were greeted with beer and their famous Red Eye Sliders.

Woodchuck Hard Cider (Pink) Nice and smooth. Now, I have to start off by saying I don’t drink, but I had to try this one. Very nice. Light and sweet. @Tarajroth tasted some and she loved it. This one I would order again.

@Droolius had the Curious Traveler Shandy. All the beers they had on tap looked good. I wish I would have gotten all the names. Again, not being a beer drinker put me at a disadvantage.

Red Eye Slider.
Our housemade cornbread muffins filled with BBQ pulled pork and topped with our house BBQ sauce and honey.
From my previous Red Eye blog post you can see how yummy these are. One of their best appetizers.

Come and check out Red Eye. Do like we did. We had dinner first and then went to the Beer Garden. Here is some of our dinner items as well:

Red Eye Burger with a side of Mac and Cheese.

Half Rack of Ribs with loaded baked potato.

Burnt Ends.

Pulled Pork Sandwich with French Fries (kids menu)

Pom Pom’s Teahouse and Sandwicheria

Finally. Wow. Can’t believe it has taking me so long to get here. Many of my fellow foodies and bloggers have told me plenty about this place.

Full house today. Couldn’t get good pics. Not what I expected. Very groovy and funky place. I was dressed up coming from work and felt way overdressed.

These masters of sandwich making are not only good at their craft but they are all super friendly as well. That made me feel very comfortable. This was a quick stop for me and just ordered one dish and had to head out. I hate to eat and run. Lets talk FOOD!!

Mama Ling Ling’s Thanksgiving.
Turkey, Gouda, Stuffing, Ginger Cranberry Chutney, Mashed Potato, and Cream Cheese with a side of gravy.
This is the sandwich most of the people I know recommended. There are so many choices. Their cupcakes look amazing too. They have several desserts to choose from. Great place. Will be back again very soon.

Hash House A Go Go

Our Memorial Day started with a quick breakfast place in Orlando. Hash House has just opened a few months ago in Orlando. Located on International Drive just east of Kirkman.

The restaurant is huge. Lots of space. We were the first ones to arrive this morning at 7:50am. Sue was the first one to greet us. Sweetest woman on earth. Took the time to chat with us and make us smile. I love great service!

Their bar area is big and elegant. This morning this was the place were they made our lattes.

Banana Latte. @Tarajroth was feeling adventurous and Chris the GM suggested she try this. Chris was the one who actually made it for her. It tasted like a Bananas Foster. I enjoyed seeing the GM in the mix of things and working.

Regular Latte. I loved mine the best. The traditional latte with a sprinkle of cinnamon. Chris knocked this one out of the park.
Now…Lets talk COMIDA!!!!

Sage Fried Chicken and Waffles. Two Sage fried chicken breasts with hardwood smoked bacon, waffle tower, hot maple reduction and fried leeks.
Holy Mother of all that is gigantic!! I needed a ladder to get to this. It was at least five stories high. WOW! It merits two pictures!

Andy’s Sage fried chicken with fresh spinach, hardwood smoked bacon, market tomato, griddled mozzarella and chipotle cream. This is the Man Vs Food favorite. Again, I repeat, WOW. Enormous!

House Hash Chorizo, jalapenos, cheddar cheese and fresh tomato with eggs over medium.
This was the @wholycheesus and Sue recommendation. Fantastic. Had a subtle kick to it and loads of flavor.

We asked for twenty five boxes to bring it to go and needed a U-Haul truck to bring it all back. LOL. In all seriousness, bring your appetite. Everything is delicious. Customer service in this place is top notch!!

Sue, Thanks for being you. You were very kind to chat with us and take time to explain the goodies on the menu. Until we “Eat” again.

Ciao Italia Ristorante Italiano

Tonight was a date night for wifey and I. I had read about Ciao and had been wanting to try this place for about two weeks now. Chef Vincenzo is in the back cooking up some great Italian dishes.

A 2nd generation run business for the Navarras family. They have been here since 1991. I love when the business stays in the family. While entering you hear the classical Italian music playing. The ambience is romantic, which was perfect for @tarajroth and I.

I started my dinner with a Cappuccino. Just the way I like it. Bruno was the one serving us tonight. A perfect gentleman every time he spoke.

Bruschetta. Toasted Crostini topped with a blend of Tomatoes, Garlic, Onions and Basil in E.V.O.O.
@Tarajroth wanted this appetizer and it looked great. We took a few bites and it was good. we had to bring two of them to go. They were rather filling.

Rigatoni Con Salsiccia E Rapini.
Rigatoni pasta, house sausage, broccoli rabe in garlic-Pinot Grigio reduction.
Nice. Flavorful. The Parmesan cheese on top made it even yummier. The sausage was my favorite part of this dish.

(Photo courtesy of @tarajroth) Maybe I should have her take all my pics.

Veal Alla Parmigiana with Spaghetti Marinara.
@Tarajroth ordered this one. She liked the veal, but was not a fan of the pasta. She said the flavors were too light. She would have liked more garlic to give it some more kick.

Chocolate Fonduta Torta
Sponge cake filled with rich chocolate fondant, covered with chocolate flakes.
@Tarajroth liked it at first. She then took a bite of the back of the cake and sensed that it had been kept for a while. I had a bite and I thought it was good. I couldn’t tell if it was fresh or not.

Tiramisu. Lady fingers soaked in espresso coffee layered with marscapone cheese dusted with cocoa powder.
I liked it. Wifey had some and she like my dessert better than hers. I always say, you can’t go wrong with a classic dessert. Very good.

Overall, very nice place. I was very happy with how nice it is on the inside. The food was good, but not great. I would go definitely go again to try other dishes. Great service. Ask for Bruno.

Sapporo Ramen

Today was a perfect Saturday. @Droolius had recommended this place on his blog Droolius.com. And I had asked @droolius and @kokocooks if we could all eat there together today. It is easy to miss using GPS. It is located in the Westside Crossing Plaza. Chinatown.

The restaurant is small, but fits many people as we found out today. When we arrived it was slow. But then about an hour later it became super busy.

You know I had to take a picture of all the people coming in to eat. According to @droolius this place just opened on May 9. Seems word has gotten out. There were some people there eating that follow @droolius and had decided to eat here because of his blog post. Maybe everyone else follows @droolius as well.

Gyoza. Courtesy of @kokocooks. She ordered these for the table. You can’t ever go wrong with dumplings.

Takoyaki. Fried Octopus Fritter. These were perfect. Not any strange taste or texture to it. Nice and tasty.

Pork Katsu Curry. Courtesy of @droolius. He shared this one with the table and it was @xobejm’s favorite dish. @Droolius later poured the curry on the rice and @xobejm couldn’t get enough of it.

Gyu Don
Beef and Onion with oriental style sauce. This was courtesy of @xobejm. She shared this one with the table. Those thin slices of beef were heavenly. This dish didn’t last long at all. I finished up the onions and rice. Amazing.

Shoyu Ramen. Soy based broth. This was @kokocooks dish.

Shio Ramen. The soup is simply seasoned with salt. Butter flavored corn adds great taste to it. This was @droolius dish.

Miso Ramen. This one I got to taste and it had a peanut butter taste to it. This was @backyard_garage dish. (Photo courtesy of @droolius)

Tonkotsu Ramen
Served with green onion, bamboo shoots, pork cha-su, narutomaki. This was my dish. Fantastic. This now my second time getting Ramen and it truly is the way to go. Great taste and very good portions.

Sapporo does not disappoint when it comes to flavor and the prices are spectacular. In the words of @droolius, you know you are in an authentic place when Japanese people come to a Japanese restaurant. I highly recommend trying Sapporo Ramen.

Many Big Mega Thanks and Gracias to @kokocooks @droolius @tarajroth @xobejm @tytyeats and @backyard_garage and Jason for hanging out and making the lunch extra awesome. Eat on my friends, Eat on!!

Saffron Indian Cuisine

What a great way to start the day. As I always say, “Great eats, Great peeps.” Lunch Bunch get togethers are my favorite. Getting to eat with people you love hanging out with is a true blessing.

Today was Saffron Indian Cuisine day and we were excited and ready to eat. The gang came in with empty bellies and we were seated instantly. @Tarajroth @OrlandoFamStyle @orlandouncorked @wholycheesus @kokocooks @eatlocalorlando, Max and yours truly were all in attendance.

Mango Lassi. Best way to start. My all time favorite drink. I do prefer it on the much colder side. This one was warm, but still tasty.

Papadum and Naan. Were the talk of the table. The Papadum with the black pepper on it and the Naan was excellent. Now….. Let’s talk FOOD!!!

Chicken Korma, Samosa, Rice, and other goodies. @Tarajroth ordered this one and got it medium. I had a bite and it was very good. This is @tarajroth’s go to dish.

Chicken Vindaloo, Samosa, Rice, and other goodies. This was my dish and I ordered it spicy. Great taste. I love the chicken with the potatoes together. It’s my go to dish.

Chicken Tikka Roll with French Fries and Raita. This one was the best tasting item I ate. Filled with veggies and great tasting spices on the inside. I shared the other half with @wholycheesus and he enjoyed it as well.

Feast Shot. As you know my favorite picture to take. The whole Foodie Familia eating and sharing. Does my heart good.

Thanks to the UYE crew for hosting this event. @OrlandoFamStyle you are amazing as always.

Foodie Familia, I love you guys and until we “Eat” again.

Danny’s Broasted Chicken

Far far from home I go to try new food in different cities. Danny’s located in Lake Mary had great reviews and had to make it a point to stop by.

Broasting:
Verb
Prepare food using a cooking process that combines broiling and roasting. (Thank you Google for educating me)

The interior is definitely sporty. Lots of NFL banners encompass the inside. Lots of football pictures in a frame and ESPN playing on their flatscreen. Danny is a big Green Bay fan.

Some of the locals were here early getting the daily lunch special. Leg, thigh, and wing.
Two sides come with it.

Daily Special. Broasted chicken. Leg, Thigh, and Wing with Mac and Cheese and Cole Slaw. As the reviews mentioned, the cole slaw was okay. The Mac and Cheese I really liked. Broasted chicken was just right. It was tasty and it wasn’t greasy at all. This concept works for me.
