Virgil’s (Nassau Bahamas)

Located inside the luxurious Atlantis Resort in Nassau Bahamas. This one had to be done. I was fortunate enough to be here last month and see where it was located. Didn’t get a chance to eat there. This time I made it a point to ask how to enter the restaurant.

Gorgeous place. The dining room was full and the only available seats were the bar or the high top. I chose the high top.

This is where I entered through. You really have to know its there from the inside. Hard to find. First floor and hidden in a corner.

Beautiful bar area. All types of sports while you enjoy a drink and great food. Today was December 31st, so they had holiday music. After a while they changed the music and you heard more island tunes.

This is the other dining room that was not in use during lunch hours. Two dining rooms this size and also a big seating area outside in the patio.

The view from my high top. Very nice place. One of the cab drivers said there were over 90 different types of fish.

They have their own BBQ sauce. It was very good. Would have liked to try a hotter/spicier version of this.

My favorite part of the table set up. Actual hand towels. I loved it.

For appetizer I started with the BBQ Trash Ribs served with Mustard coleslaw. I was worried about getting this for starters and be full for my main meal, but it was just the right size. Lots of flavor in all these tiny bites.

The Brisket Melt served with Coleslaw, Pickle, fresh cut French Fries. My server Ben gave me a high five when I ordered it. He said it was his favorite out of all the dishes they offered. This was super tasty.

Definitely not for someone on a budget. Everything is pricey in Atlantis. Virgil’s does not disappoint. For me it was worth every penny. Yeah Mon!

Teak Neighborhood Grill

Teak Neighborhood Grill

First of all, thanks so much to @eatlocalorlando for inviting me to the Lunch Brunch. You are awesome man! What a pleasure to meet so many wonderful people. Also, thanks to Kelli Matheny (@OrlandoFamStyle) for hosting this event. Looking forward to future get togethers with all of you. Until we “Eat” again!

I had @tarajroth and @xobejm with me today. It was a first time for the three of us. Actually, it was a first time for most of us there. We were looking forward to a new adventure with new fellow foodies and Yelpers.

I had heard and read a lot about Teak Neighborhood Grill. Today was the day to taste it for myself.

This is a great place. I picture this place at night full of excitement. Watching all kinds of sports games and hanging out on the patio. Located in Metrowest this place must get packed at night.

The patio is open for action at 5pm. I was able to get a sneak peek and take some pictures thanks to Melanie who asked me to be sure to post this on Urbanspooon. Oh, Melanie, you know me so well. : )

The pictures don’t do this patio justice. It’s huge. Very spacious. I will have to check this place out in the evening just to see how much fun they have here. They have all sorts of beers and happy hours on certain days and times. Now, on to the Food stuff!

We were 18 deep at Teak today. Didn’t think @TeakOrlando would be up for the challenge, but they took care of us efficiently and effectively! Cassandra was on fire today helping us all out with drink and food orders. Cassandra, thank you so much for all your service today. You were amazing!!

@Xobejm and @tarajroth started off with a House Salad with Ranch dressing. Again, don’t be fooled by the picture. This salad was huge and very tasty.

@Xobejm ordered the Grain Fed Baby Back Ribs (Half Rack) with Garlic French Fries and Garlic Mashed Potatoes. Unbelievable!! Baby Girl finished those ribs in a second.

@Tarajroth ordered the Blackened Chicken Pesto. Blackened Chicken, Diced Tomatoes, Fresh Mozzarella in a Creamy Pesto Sauce. I had a taste of this and I loved it. Wifey brought this home and looking forward to eating her leftovers.

The main reason I was here!! The Brazilian Burger. (Insert Brazilian wax joke here) Ham, Over Medium Egg, Potato strings, Provolone, Bibb, Tomato and Ranch Dressing on a Brioche Bun. I may say this too much, but this is the perfect bite. All those flavors in one bite were amazing.

This burger was HUGE!! Lisa took a great picture with me next to the burger. Lisa, great picture! When you can please send it to me. Thanks. I ordered the sweet potato tots as a side. They were yummy and made me feel less guilty for eating this Big Ole Burger.

My favorite picture of all. The feast shot. I do enjoy good food, but I also enjoy great company. Thank you again Kelli for letting my family join your family. Special shout out to Scott, Rayni, and Danielle. Thanks for being awesome table mates.

@Eatlocalorlando, thanks for thinking of us for the invite. I owe ya big time my friend.

Dolce Bakery & Café

Dolce Bakery & Café

@Xobejm and I started our morning finding a new spot for breakfast. Osceola Parkway and Old Dixie Hwy was the spot to be this morning. You can see the sign if you are truly searching, but other than that its very easy to miss.

This place is Niiiiiiice. Wow. Where have I been? Sweets, Treats, breakfast items, etc.

Lots of space to sit down and have your empanada with some cafe con leche. Very high end place here. Well, high end for Kissimmee. : )

I am very impressed with the whole layout. This place is great. The young lady at the cash register says they don’t have a menu because they are changing it up. The owner is from Venezuela. The young lady gave her suggestions and I chose the Venezuelan breakfast.

They have so much to choose from. The locals come in for the cafe and empanada and head on out. @Xobejm and I sat down and enjoyed this great place.

The Venezuelan breakfast: Scrambled eggs with onions and tomatoes, shredded beef and a cachapa with cheese. YUM! No coffee for me today. @Xobejm had already eaten at home, so she shared a bit with me.

Great place to sit down and have a great tasting breakfast.

China Gourmet

China Gourmet

Let me begin by wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas!

@Tarajroth had worked all day today and the only place we found open for dinner was China Gourmet. Two minutes away from home. Christmas Day is rough to find anything open.

I ordered the Hot and Spicy Beef combo with fried rice and egg roll. I had to ask for it Asian spicy. Most of the time their spicy is not hot enough for me.

@Tarajroth ordered the Hunan Beef and she wanted it spicy as well. The dish traditionally comes spicy but wifey asked for a bit more spice. I guess we were both in a spicy sort of mood. China Gourmet is your usual quick stop for Chinese food. What I like about it tonight was that it wasn’t overwhelming salty. I tend to leave Chinese restaurants with a sodium coma. China Gourmet hit the spot tonight. Great food and the young lady at the cashier was very friendly and wished us a Merry Christmas. Nice people rock!!

A great place to visit in Kissimmee. This is located in the Publix shopping mall. Stop on by and give them a try. : )

Rio Mexican Grille

Rio Mexican Grille

Tonight Baby Girl was hanging out with grandma. Wifey and I searched for a new place while avoiding the mall and outlet traffic. On 192 on mile marker 10 is Rio Mexican Grille.

We were greeted by Linda when we walked in. She was very friendly and in a great mood. She walked us in and I was amazed by the size of this place. It’s huge.

This seemed more like an overflow room even though it is part of the restaurant. I would love to see the whole restaurant packed with people. I am sure this place is hopping in the evening.

This is the bar. Great options and they offer a variety of drinks. With a bar like this, you name it, you get it. The same owner of this restaurant owns Sharky’s sports bar next door.

I love their set up. You can see the decorations and how much work they put into the appearance.

Lily our server came to our table with our chips and salsa. This salsa was delicious. Not at all what you taste in other restaurants. Fresh cilantro in this salsa. @Tarajroth and I were very happy.

Carnitas a la Michoacan with yellow rice and beans. Corn tortillas on the side. The onions on top of the pork made the flavors pop. I actually made a taco and added some of the salsa from the chips to the taco to make a perfect bite.

Wifey @tarajroth ordered the Cheese enchiladas with yellow rice and beans. They come with two different sauces. Red and green. @Tarajroth decorated them nicely but unfortunately I didn’t get a picture. These enchiladas were very tasty and cheesy.

I ended with the Tres Leches. Love the taste of this. Not too sweet. Just the right amount of cinnamon on top.

@Tarajroth got the deep fried ice cream. I love the presentation of this dish. They made a great design on the plate. I tasted some of this and it was fantastic.

Rio Mexican Grille is worth giving a try. Great staff and great food. As all of you know, I love great customer service over anything else. Lily and Linda went above and beyond and made our experience ten times better.

Lilly, Gracias por todo. We will be coming back soon. Thank you so much for laughing with us.

Linda, we loved your smile when we walked in. Thanks for your kindness.

Blue Bird Bake Shop

Blue Bird Bake Shop

After eating a great lunch it was time to venture out and find the famous and well known Blue Bird Bake Shop. As seen from my previous posts I am a SERIOUS cupcake fan. I had heard many stories from the local food lovers that this was the place to be.

I follow and retweet them often on Twitter. I think it was @eatlocalorlando who got me hooked on seeing their daily specials. They all looked so good, so I started following them and trying to spread the word about their bake shop.

Not hard to miss at all. I loved being able to find it easily because of all the signs on the exterior. I was hoping to meet the person who tweets their daily specials but the person was not in today.

Great place. Nice and clean and it smells great as soon as you come in. Billy was the gentleman at the counter helping us out today. We told him it was our first time and he really took the time to explain what cupcakes they had and what they contained.

The daily specials ready to be eaten by me. : ) While we were there some folks walked in saying they were from Texas and specifically came to this place for cupcakes.

The Christmas tree and the decorations made the Blue Bird Bake Shop come alive.

This place is immaculate. Great use of space. I like the counters. They also have comfy sofas to have a seat while enjoying their cupcakes and some tables as well. We ordered cupcakes and ate here to enjoy the great smell of freshly baked goodies and enjoying the ambience.

We order one for each of us. Starting at the top: I ordered the Upside Down, @xobejm got the Tuxedo, and @tarajroth got the Sweet Cake.

Billy took the time to describe what each one had inside. I was so in awe of the establishment and that I was finally here that I never paid attention to the ingredients or what the cupcakes had inside. All I know is that they were delicious. The cream cheese icing was perfect and the chocolate was divine.

It was a short stop, but we finally made it! Glad we did. We will be coming back.

If you are ever in Orlando come and check them out. Great place with great cupcakes.

Shin Jung Korean Restaurant

Shin Jung

Wow!! Where do I begin. I mean it would be easier to say read @tastychomps blog and I could go to sleep. He describes it perfectly in his blog. So, here I go. Today for lunch it was @droolius @kokocooks @Joeyme1 @tytyeats @tarajroth @xobejm and myself.

I will attempt to write about our experience at Shin Jung. One word: UNBELIEVABLE! This was my first time ever eating Korean food. Big Props to @kokocooks for picking this place. It was amazing. Ok, lets get to the FOOD stuff. Pictured above is the Toasted Rice Tea (Sungyung) @tarajroth @Joeyme1 and @kokocooks ordered this one and it was good. Nice for a semi chilly afternoon.

Next, @Joeyme1 recommended the Kimchi pancake. HOLY MOTHER OF DELICIOUSNESS! Keep in mind all these flavors are new to me and I couldn’t get enough. It was very very good.

Pan Fried dumplings were next. I love eating with @kokocooks and @Joeyme1 @droolius because we always order family style and share a bit of everything. My kind of Food Loving Folks (#FOLOFO).

I started singing the Alicia Keys song, “THIS GRILL IS ON FIIIIIIRE!!!”. Little did I know what was about to happen.

The biggest shock came to me when our server put all these lovely bowls on our table. Don’t ask me what it was. God bless @droolius for describing what each one was. If you have any questions look him up on

This is one when the situation got a lot better. Kal Bi, Bul Go Gi, Pork, and Sliced Pork Belly. DANG! I mean, there is no other word, but DANG. Inappropriate for a blog? Definitely, but it truly expresses how I felt at the moment and it expresses how amazing it tasted.

Chef @droolius did the honors this time around and made sure all the meats were cooked at their appropriate temperatures.

This gives you an idea the amount of meat that was given to us. Now, remember that we also have some on the grill already. Lots of meat to be eaten.

This is the Japchae. This dish was ordered by @Joeyme1 and @kokocooks. I never like to take credit for something I didn’t order, but I had to post it because it was delicious. I ate a lot of this one. Thanks @Joeyme1 and @kokocooks for sharing this dish with me and letting me take some to go. You two rock!!

Family style eating is what it’s all about. We had a wonderful time. I would suggest this place to anyone in a second. Great little place in Orlando. Very friendly staff and they help you out with the cooking as well. As @tastychomps pointed out in his blog about Shin Jung, you can easily miss this place while driving.

No denying I pick people who enjoy good food and lots of it. I was about to cry at one point. All my family is in Chicago. This was my little family for the day. Just partaking in great food, great conversations, great laughs, with great company. Thank you so much to @droolius @Joeyme1 @kokocooks @tytyeats @xobejm @tarajroth for making this lunch super awesome.
